Boys Basketball: Smith’s double-double paces Chester Charter in opener
Azarhis Smith posted 14 points and 12 rebounds and the Chester Charter Scholars Academy had 20 takeaways in a 59-24 rout of Coventry Christian.
Zach Howard added eight points, eight rebounds and five steals for the Sabers. Jayden Williams pitched in with eight points and six assists.
Chichester 64, Lancaster Mennonite 56 >> Maz Sayed scored 13 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as the Eagles won their opener at the Coatesville Tip-Off. Sayed finished with 25 points and Vince Wildrick netted 18, including a clutch 3-pointer in the extra session.
Garnet Valley 66, Rustin 48 >> Four players scored in double figures for the Jaguars. Jake Sniras led the way with 21 points. Logan McKee poured in 15 points, Max Koehler had 12 and Ryan Faccenda 11.
Strath Haven 66, Academy Park 46 >> Jaden Jauregui tallied 25 points to go with six assists, and Jack Edwards posted a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Panthers won their opener.
Jahi Curtis added six points and 10 rebounds as Haven outscored AP, 43-17, after the break to overturn a six-point deficit.
Kyle Jones led AP with 14 points. Jamir Anderson and Bryce Lewis added eight points apiece.
Hun School 47, Haverford School 44 >> Silas Graham paced the Fords with 12 points in their opener Thursday. Luke Rasmussen netted nine points and Duke Cloran contributed eight.
