Alikakos, timely shots power Episcopal Academy past Haverford School
Matt Woods and Conner Delaney came up with big shots exactly when Episcopal Academy needed them.
Woods scored 11 points and Delaney added eight, but they each hit vital 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Churchmen erased a deficit and topped Haverford School, 41-34, Friday.
Nick Alikakos scored 16 points for EA (14-5, 5-1).
Kharon Randolph led the Fords with 13 points.
In the Central League:
Strath Haven 44, Harriton 42 >> Jahmeir Springfield scored 10 points, and Josh Singleton finished with seven, but his bucket in the last minute put the Panthers (16-3, 11-3) ahead for good.
Ridley 49, Upper Darby 40 >> Julian Wing scored 19 points, and Brett Foster added 12 as the Green Raiders (18-1, 14-0) pulled away in what had been a close game.
Maurice Grier had 12 points, and Raquon West added 10 for Upper Darby (7-13, 5-10).
Conestoga 80, Garnet Valley 71 >> Andrew Louden scored 20 points and Connor O’Brien supplied 11 off the bench, but a 29-16 deficit in the first quarter stunned the Jaguars (11-7, 7-7).
Radnor 58, Springfield 47 >> Sami Ghazzi canned five 3-pointers for a career-high 17 points, and Vinnie Kelly and Alex Hino added 12 apiece as the Raiders (11-9, 6-8) picked up a vital win.
Alex DeAngelis hit four triples for 16 points, and Kyle Ryan added 11 for the Cougars.
In the Catholic League:
Cardinal O’Hara 68, Bishop McDevitt 47 >> Luitauraus Repsys posted a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds, and Zakee Griffin (19 points) and Jaye’Lyn Peebles (17) helped pace O’Hara (6-13, 2-8).
Archbishop Carroll 49, Conwell-Egan 44 >> Ryan Daly scored 22 points, and Josh Sharkey was steady from the line late to accumulate 17 points as the Patriots (17-2, 9-1) dug out a tough road victory.
Lansdale Catholic 51, Bonner & Prendergast 50 >> John Hargraves scored 23 points to go with 14 rebounds and four blocks, and Christian Lane added 13, but the Friars (9-10, 2-8) were edged.
In nonleague action:
Chichester 86, Friere Charter 62 >> Derrick Welles threatened a triple-double with 20 points, eight assists and eight rebounds, and Da’Quan Granberry supplemented his 16 points with 18 rebounds for the Eagles.
Eric Montanez added 19 points, and Jamai Womack scored 16 for Chi (12-7).
Penn Wood 65, St. Thomas 59 >> Ryan Kelly scored 15 points, and Vincent Smalls and Calvin Melton chipped in 10 points each for the Patriots (9-9).
Constitution 67, Delco Christian 57 >> Devin Hill returned from injury to score 24 points, and Wyatt Harkins added 19, but a comeback attempt by the Knights (9-9) fell short.
Plumstead Christian 63, Christian Academy 40 >> Davier Daniels scored 16 points, but the Crusaders (3-15) fell to Plumstead.
