Recap
The No. 23 seed Panthers continued their late-season improvement and knocked out reigning District 1 champion Owen J. Roberts in the opening round of the District 1-6A playoffs Monday.
Quakertown leadoff hitter Dan Qualteria was 4-for-4 with an RBI and Cole Natasin was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI to fuel an offense that got on OJR starter Zach Brockner early for four runs through two innings, the three-run first inning coming thanks to a pair of fielding errors.
Brockner was chased from the game in the Panthers’ three-run fifth inning that put the game away. His final stat line was 4 ⅓ innings, eight hits, two earned runs with four strikeouts.
Vincent Pellegrini went the distance for Quakertown (10-11), allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits with six strikeouts.
Owen J. Roberts (13-7) had not played since Wednesday, May 10 after missing the PAC playoffs.
Lucas Santise (RBI) and Tristan Dietrich each doubled for OJR, which got within 4-2 after four innings but Quakertown came alive again for three in the fifth.
OJR’s senior class featured Brockner, Santise, Dietrich, Dylan Donaghy, Frank Ambrosio, Jake Grossi, Will Hakun, David Levengood and Mason Miller.
