Recap
Boyertown 12, Upper Merion 1 >> The Bears rode Mike Hohlfeld’s two-hit pitching, and the hot bats of Noah Kurtz and Mitchell Peers, to victory over the Vikings in this non-divisional pairing of Pioneer Athletic Conference schools.
While Hohlfeld fanned seven and limited UM to its lone run in the first, Kurtz (2-for-3, double) had five RBI while Peers drove in four runs on 2-for-4 hitting that featured a home run. Jake DiCesare (2-for-2) and Michael Raneiri (2-for-4) had other multiple-hit days for the state’s defending AAA champions, who brought the 10-run rule into effect with two outs in the fifth.
