Entering Wednesday still without a notch in the win column, Pottsgrove held on to defeat Upper Perkiomen, 8-5.
The win serves as Pottsgrove’s first Pioneer Athletic Conference win of the season and first-year head coach Jamie Nash’s first varsity victory with the program.
Alex Stump earned the win on the mound, where he scattered four hits and three runs (two earned) across five innings of work. He also helped himself with an RBI-double at the plate. Garrett Bleakley went the final two frames to earn the save.
Mike Gantert (three runs scored), Noah Reimel (two RBI, run scored), Spencer Mitchell (two RBI, run scored) and Bleakley (two RBI) each posted two hits on the afternoon.
Matt Schneider came on in relief, and left with the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) across 1-2/3 innings as Upper Perk totaled five errors on the afternoon. Aaron Benner finished 2-for-4 at the dish with a run scored and an RBI.
