The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media Local Roundup (May 9): Souderton rallies past Pennridge

Souderton 3, Pennridge 2: The Indians picked up the SOL Colonial win on Tuesday in dramatic fashion with a walk-off win. Ethan Warner hit a bases loaded single to give Souderton the win. Austin Kreyenhagen struck out 13 batters, while allowing three hits and two runs in six innings. Kreyenhagen, Tyler Lutz and Luke Pollock also doubled for Souderton. Garrett Navitsky took the hard-luck loss for Pennridge, going 6-plus innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs. Joey Santora doubled and drove in two runs for the Rams.

Pope John Paul II 5, Perk Valley 2: A.J. Diaddezio allowed four hits and no earned runs as the Golden Panthers picked up the win on Tuesday. Blake High got the win, closing the game out with three innings of scoreless relief. TJ Boccella paced the offense with two singles and two runs scored.

Dock Mennonite 15, MaST Charter 5 (6): Zach Fredreick hit a three-run home run in the top of the third, Sa Laux belted a two-run homer in the sixth and Dock pulled away to earn a win over MaST Charter.

Frederick also doubled in finishing 2-for-5 with five RBIs and a run scored. Laux was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored while Nathan Lapp went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and four runs scored.

Brayden Kratz, Deven Ross and Zach Neff all scored two runs for the Pioneers, who took an 8-0 lead with six runs in the top of the third. MaST scored five in the bottom of the inning but Dock put up two runs in both the fourth and fifth then tacked on three more in the sixth.

Abington 3, Hatboro-Horsham 1: Alex Dardaris broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth with a two-run homer, Jaden Hernandez’s solo homer in the sixth made it 3-0 in the sixth and Abington held on to claim a SOL Liberty victory.

Hernandez was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while Mike Judge went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the Galloping Ghosts (10-6, 9-3). Starting pitcher LJ Wolff struck out 12 in six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and four walks.

Kyle Dittus went 2-for-2 for Hatboro-Horsham (10-5, 7-5), which dropped its second straight. The Hatters pulled to within 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh on Trey Porter’s two-out bases-loaded walk but the next batter grounded out to first,

Plymouth Whitemarsh 2, Quakertown 1: Luke Gartland gave Plymouth Whitemarsh a walk-off SOL Liberty victory as he came through with a bases-loaded RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.

Gartland went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, driving in the first run for the Colonials (12-3, 11-2) on a single in the third. Quakertown (6-9, 5-7) made it 1-1 in the top of the seventh on Vinny Pellegrini’s RBI single.

PW’s Dylan Robinson earned a complete-game win, giving up an earned run on three hits, no walks and struck out three.

Upper Moreland 8, William Tennent 4: Patrick Kilgus broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the fifth with his three-run home run, Upper Moreland added another run in the inning on Nate Kelly’s RBI sacrifice fly and the Golden Bears went on to snap their four-game skid.

Kelly collected two RBIs while Jackson Townsend scored twice for UM (7-7, 6-6 SOL Freedom).

Daniel Scheller went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for William Tennent (4-12, 2-10).

Central Bucks East 10, Central Bucks South 4: Chase Harlan was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Jack Misland hit a solo home run in the top of the second as Central Bucks East earned its third straight win.

Misland finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored while Nolan Boehm went 2-for-4 with a double and scored three runs for the Patriots (5-12, 5-8 SOL Colonial). Joey Wilga was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs while Ryan Zosulis had two RBIs.

Owen Wheeler was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Central Bucks South (7-7, 6-6), who pulled to within 6-3 with a run in the bottom of the fourth. East, however, added a run in both the fifth and sixth then tacked on two more in the seventh to go up 10-3

Softball
Upper Dublin 12, Wissahickon 1: Kyle Garrison pitched a five inning no-hitter as the Cardinals (12-5) picked up the SOL American win on Tuesday. Garrison struck out nine and walked two. Upper Dublin’s Kaelin Penna was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two doubles. Kaitlyn Small was 3-for-3 with three runs scored an dan RBI. Garrison had two hits, while Anna Levin and Kaitlyn Zacharia (two RBIs) also both had two hits.

Quakertown 6, Plymouth Whitemarsh 2: Quakertown took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Maya Hellyer’s two-RBI double while Ellie Hilton’s three-run home run in the second put the Panthers up five as they earned a SOL Liberty win to remain undefeated.

Hellyer finished 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Quakertown (16-0, 12-0 SOL division) while Kara Muller went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored.

Caelin Kosvitch was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Plymouth Whitemarsh (12-5, 10-3). Marissa Perez went 2-for-3.

Archbishop Wood 20, Neumann-Goretti 0 (5): Dakota Fanelli recorder her 400th career strikeout as she posted 11 in pitching a three-hit shutout while also hitting two triples in going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and a run scored as Archbishop Wood cruised to a PCL victory.

Maura Yoos went 4-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored while Riley Nolan hit a leadoff home run in the top of the second, doubled in the third as was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Graciene Gale hit a three-run homer in the fifth for the Vikings. Maddison Conlon had two doubles and went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, Elizabeth James finished 2-for-2 with an RBI and scored twice while Parker Kraus was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Allie Higdon and Maggie Devlin both had two runs scored.

North Penn 3, Central Bucks West 0: Julia Shearer struck out 12 in pitching a one-hit shutout while at the plate went 3-for-3 with a triple, RBI and a run scored as North Penn improved to 17-0 (13-0 SOL Colonial).

Annabelle Smink was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with an RBI sacrifice fly. North Penn added two runs in the fifth on RBI singles from Shearer and Smink.

Anna Glemser collected the lone hit for Central Bucks West (8-8, 6-7) on a bunt single in the bottom of the first.

Souderton 6, Pennridge 1: Sierra Miller broke a 1-1 tie with a leadoff home run in the top of the fourth while Kayley York added a two-run homer in the fifth as Souderton pulled away to earn an SOL Colonial victory.

Kendall Clemmer was 4-for-4 with two runs scored for the Indians (9-8, 7-6 division) while Lindsey Detwiler struck out 15 in a complete-game win. York went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored with Lily Ponce going 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Grace Helbling was 2-for-2 with a double for Pennridge (10-7, 7-6). Averi Dockery’s home run to open the bottom of the second pulled the Rams even at one.

Hatboro-Horsham 8, Abington 3: Hatboro-Horsham pulled away with four runs in the top of the seventh – two coming in on Amya Lundy’s triple – and the Hatters extended their winning streak to nine.

Lundy went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored while Tess Kearney was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and scored twice for HH (11-5, 11-2 SOL Liberty). Alyssa Tooley was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored.

Leanna Schenk hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth for Abington (4-12, 4-9 SOL Liberty).

William Tennent 10, Upper Moreland 0 (5): Carlie Nydick struck out eight in pitching a four-hit shutout, Morgan Kocher went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored and William Tennent rolled to five-inning SOL Freedom win.

Anna Coulter was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Panthers (10-5, 10-3 division), who plated five runs in the top of the third then went up 9-0 in the fourth. Gigi Demito hit a solo home run in the fourth while Casey Yacovelli had two RBIs.

Dock Mennonite 15, Plumstead Christian 0 (4): Addison Landis was 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored as Dock Mennonite put up seven runs in the bottom and rolled to a four-inning victory.

Aubrey Gehman also hit two doubles and finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Adelyn Clemmer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Trinity Landis went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while Eden Schrag was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice. Lydia Ehst had two RBIs and two runs scored.

Gwynedd Mercy 15, Merion Mercy 4 (5): Alexa Weiss hit two doubles in going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored as Gwynedd Mercy picked up a five-inning AACA win.

Kiersten Dunlap was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Jenna Morrison had three RBIs and three runs scored for the Monarchs. Bridget Cahill collected two RBIs, Bria Mahoney scored three times while Kalie Mogg had two runs scored.

Central Bucks East 6, Central Bucks South 5: Nora Sidorski’s three-run home run capped a five-run bottom of the fifth that pulled Central Bucks South even but Central Bucks East got a run on a two-out error in the top of the sixth and held on for the SOL Colonial victory.

Corrin Eads hit three doubles in going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored for East (5-12, 4-9) while Kayla Mitchell went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Camryn Lee was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for South (9-7, 7-6). Riley Theis finished 2-for-3.

Boys lacrosse
Perk School 11, LC 5: Jack Kennedy made 13 saves in net but the Crusaders dropped the nonconference game on Tuesday. Caleb Moister and Dan Curran (13 faceoff wins) both scored two goals for LC, while Patch Flannery also tallied a goal.

Girls lacrosse
Archbishop Carroll 10, Penn Charter 8: Carroll was led by Ava Bleckley with four goals, one assist and five caused turnovers in a nonconference win on Tuesdsay. Chloe Bleckley and Machaela Henry added two goals apiece. Cate McConaghy and Lainey Straub also tallied goals for Carrolll. Bridget Robinson was superb in goal, stopping seven shots for the Patriots (16-1).

Boys volleyball

Pennridge 3, Souderton 0: The Indians were swept on Tuesday although Nate Brown had six kills and four digs. Also standing out for Souderton were Ian Nice (5 kills, 6 digs), Derek Gilmore (3 blocks, 4 digs) and Alec Kreiser (9 digs).
