Delco Roundup: D’Ancona’s bat, arm the difference for Strath Haven
Luke D’Ancona came through with a run-scoring single and recorded five strikeouts across three innings to lead Strath Haven to a 2-1 Central League victory over Marple Newtown.
D’Ancona registered the save for starting pitcher Alex Pak, who tossed three shutout innings, striking out three. Zane Malarkey also hurled one solid inning relief for the Panthers.
Jake McDonough was 2-for-4 with an RBI double and run scored.
Bennett Cox was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Tigers. Kevin Taraborell reached base three times with two singles and a walk, and Aiden Pearson threw 4.2 shutout innings of relief.

Bonner & Prendergast 6, Conwell-Egan 1 >> Kevin McGonigle, the reigning Daily Times Player of the Year, powered the Friars to a season-opening win with a home run, single, walk and three RBIs. Jaxon Kehoe went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Harry Carr singled and drove in a run.
In nonleague action:
Episcopal Academy 14, Lawrence Academy (Mass.) 0 >> The Churchmen exploded for 11 runs in the third inning in Fort Pierce, Fla. Ryan Tansky allowed only one hit over four innings with eight strikeouts to earn the win.
Alex Barrist was 2-for-2 with a triple and three ribbies. Tansky doubled and drove in three runs, while Jack Hurda and Tyler Beaulieu both slugged a pair of hits. Jake Virbitsky knocked in three runs.
