Mercury Baseball Roundup (May 10): Spring-Ford closes in on Pioneer Athletic Conference championship

Spring-Ford 12, Pottsgrove 2

Michael Cunningham and Nick Ashley combined on a two-hitter and the hot-hitting Rams continued their tear through the PAC.

The win improved Spring-Ford to 13-1 to put it a way away from clinching the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship. Phoenixville is second at 11-3 but holds a tiebreaker over Spring-Ford due to the Phantoms’ head-to-head win.

The Rams’ wrecking crew has scored 166 runs this season (2nd in the PAC is OJR at 122) against just 17 runs allowed.

Spring-Ford was out to an 8-0 lead after two innings. Griffin Straface (2 hits), Jake Books (double, 2 hits, 3 RBI), Dylan Ducharme (2 hits, 2 RBI) had RBI singles in the five-run second.

Steven Rinda’s two-run double in the fourth was the highlight for Pottsgrove.
