Mercury Baseball Roundup (April 19): Lamalfa lifts Methacton to 5-4 win over Pottsgrove

Methacton 5, Pottsgrove 4 >> Mike Lamalfa’s one-out sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh scored Tyler Weil-Kasper to give the Warriors a walk-off win over the Falcons on Monday.

Weil-Kasper went 3-for-4 and Nolan McCloskey went 2-for-4, both scoring a run and driving in another to lead the Warriors’ offense. Lamalfa went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Starter Graham Halfpenny tossed five scoreless innings, giving up one hit and walking two batters while striking out nine.

Methacton led 4-0 entering the fifth inning before Pottsgrove scored one in the sixth and plate three in the seventh to tie the score 4-4 entering the bottom of the inning.
Avery Spencer and Steven Rinda (two RBI) had the Falcons’ only two hits.

Owen J. Roberts 15, Upper Merion 0 >> Zach Brockner had a two hits (double) and three RBI as the Wildcats dispatched the Vikings in three innings. Other multi-RBI days were turned in by Ethan Sabatino, Sam Cerimele, Grant Reitz and winning pitcher Blaine Waltimyer, who didn’t allow a hit in three innings work. He struck out four.

Boyertown 12, Pottstown 2 >> Peyton Moyer’s two-run double as part of a five-run second inning helped the Bears cruise by the Trojans in six innings.

Jonathan Myers, Tyler Hoffman, Trey Yesavage and Alex Deforge each had a hit and an RBI for Boyertown. Cole Galloway threw three innings of two-hit ball for the win.

Gabe Hicks had a hit and drove in a run for Pottstown.

Perkiomen Valley 6, Pope John Paul II 0 >> Tyler Lapetina tossed a complete game shutout in the Vikings’s PAC Crossover win over the Golden Panthers on Monday.

Lapetina allowed five hits and one walk while striking out four in seven innings. PV also got two-hit days from Andrew McGowan (double, two runs, RBI) and Zach Fusco (run) had two-hit days to lead the Vikings’ offensive charge.

Adam Yarrison went the distance for PJP, giving up three earned runs on eight hits and a walk. Dom Gerasimonwicz had two hits. Brendan Kenning hit a double.

Wilson 4, Daniel Boone 2 >> Monday at Daniel Boone, Ryan Kelly and Luke Holeman combined on a two-hitter allowing two runs, one earned, with just one walk and 13 strikeouts to carry the Bulldogs to a Berks I win. Holman led the Wilson offense with a 2-for-3 (double) day with an RBI. For the Blazers, Mike Gregos and Dalton Cymbalski both doubled for the Blazers only hits.
