McDonald races home on error, wins it for Bonner & Prendie
Nick McDonald scored the winning run on an errant throw in the bottom of the 11th inning as Bonner & Prendergast walked off with a 5-4 victory over Archbishop Wood in the resumption of a Catholic League game that was suspended Monday due to darkness.
McDonald (2 for 3, two walks, RBI) scored from first base on a throwing error by a Wood outfielder. He also pitched a spotless top of the 11th to earn the win after replacing Evan Raiburn, who tossed five scoreless frames with six strikeouts.
Dom Dellabarba had two hits and a pair of runs scored for the Friars (6-2, 3-2).
In the Del Val League:
Academy Park 18, Chester 8 >> Cornell Subers had two doubles and three RBIs as the Knights rolled past the Clippers (0-5).
Chichester 20, Glen Mills 0 >> Jason Riberio had a double and scored three runs as the Eagles pummelled the Battlin’ Bulls. Winning pitcher Andrew Rodriguez allowed one hit with five strikeouts, while adding a double and an RBI.
In the Bicentennial League:
Jenkintown 3, Delco Christian 2 >> The Drakes used four singles in the eighth inning to beat the Knights (6-2, 5-2). Tyler Rossini suffered the loss, but pitched five solid innings in relief. He also contributed a run-scoring single.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Episcopal Academy 6, Germantown Academy 5 >> EA’s Alex Burman delivered the walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh.
Penn Charter 8, Haverford School 1 >> Mac McConnon’s RBI double gave the Fords a short-lived lead in the third inning.
In nonleague action:
Faith Christian 6, Christian Academy 5 >> Jake Sitkowski, Kevin Jeong and Mike Sterritt all collected two hits as the Crusaders fell in eight innings.
