OTD 2012, Coatesville knocks off WC Henderson, but Mother Nature gets last laugh

In week eight of the 2012 season, Coatesville continued its tour of West Chester with a trip to West Chester Henderson.

The Red Raiders were full-steam ahead once again, and the only thing that could stop them on this night was Mother Nature.

Coatesville scored the first 28 points of the game, cashing in on an eight-yard run by Daquan Worley and an electrifying 80-yard score by Dre Boggs.

Emmett Hunt and Chris Jones connected for a 20-yard touchdown in the beginning of the second quarter, and Isaiah Flamer had a 28-yard pick six.

Henderson, who would eventually work its way to the District 1-3A title game later in the postseason, eventually scored before halftime to make the scored, 28-6.

That’s what it would remain, as 26 seconds into the third quarter, the game was paused, and then called due to lightning.

The Raiders racked up 183 rush yards and 266 total yards in the first half, which were the second most Henderson had given up to that point in its first full seven games. The Warriors had only surrendered 41 points to their first seven opponents and 28 in 24 minutes to Coatesville.

The flip side to losing out on a half of football’s worth of stats was Coatesville heading into a big week nine matchup with Downingtown West, unscathed. Both teams were 6-2, to that point.
