Reporter/Times Herald Baseball Roundup: Quakertown edges Pennridge in Reading for 3rd straight win

Quakertown 4, Pennridge 3 >> The two rivals went to Reading’s FirstEnergy Stadium for Friday night’s game that was not decided until the bottom of the sixth inning when Justin Butler broke a 3-3 tie by scoring on a wild pitch as Quakertown claimed a third consecutive victory.

Butler was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored for the Panthers (5-5, 2-3 SOL Liberty), who led 3-1 after the third inning before Pennridge tied it with two runs in the top of the second.

Joey Calabretti went 2-3 with a double, triple and an RBI for the Rams (2-7, 1-4 SOL Colonial). Tim Mastrogiovanni finished 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored while Nick Chellew was 2-for-4 with a run.

In the top of the seventh, Pennridge put two on with back-to-back two-out walks but Anthony Rostrick struck out the next batter.

Calabretti put the Rams up 1-0 in the top of the first with his RBI triple.  In the bottom of the inning, Butler tied things with an RBI single with Quakertown going up 2-1 with a run when Tyler Neilson reached on an error. Neilson scored on a wild pitch to put the Panthers up two.

Pennridge posted two in the second – Shea Grouke scored as Matt Campione got on base after a dropped third strike while Mastrogiovanni came home on a passed ball to make it 3-3.

Upper Dublin 14, Souderton 10 >> Souderton erased a 4-1 deficit with a five-run top of the fourth but Upper Dublin answered with six in the bottom of the inning and the Cardinals held off the Indians from there for a third straight victory.

Ethan Madnick was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two run scored, Tristan Cairnes doubled and collected three RBIs while Landon Kratchman had two RBIs for Upper Dublin (3-7, 0-5 SOL Liberty), which plated four in its half of the sixth for a 14-8 lead.

Ryan Kagarise went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored for Souderton (4-5, 2-3 SOL Colonial) while Jacob Horton led off the seventh with a home run and finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Isaac Frye was 2-for-4 with a run, Shanley Wall and Luke DeSpain had two RBIs and Justin Dicesare scored twice.

Kagarise gave Souderton a 5-4 lead in the fourth with a two-RBI double with Kagarise to scoring make it 6-4 Big Red scoring when Schatz reached on an error

In the bottom of the fourth, Cairnes connected on a two-RBI double to tie the game at six with a Tyler Lizell RBI single putting UD back ahead 7-6. With two outs and the bases loaded, Leo Soriano hit an RBI single while back-to-back hit by pitches to put Upper Dublin up 10-6.

Souderton’s two in the top of the sixth made it 10-8 but the Cards tallied four in the bottom of the inning on Karan Acharya’s RBI sac fly, a Kretchman two-RBI single and Kretchman scoring when David Buccafuri reached on an error. The Indians added two in the top of the seventh’s on Horton’s leadoff home to left and a Kagaris two-out RBI double.
