Mercury Boys Tennis Roundup (April 23): Phoenixville beats Spring-Ford in battle of unbeatens

Phoenixville 5, Spring-Ford 2 >> In a match of the PAC’s last two unbeatens, the Phantoms’ doubles domination led to the victory.

Along with a third singles win from David Clipper, Phoenixville got doubles victories from Anthony Delucia/Oliver Gordon, Dylan Eliasson/Braden Mahar, Gavin Perillo/Brendan Flick and Luka Eaton/Brandon Benkler in the winning effort.

Methacton 7, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> The Warriors made a clean sweep of the singles bracket, winning all matches 6-0, 6-0 on the way to Friday’s PAC victory over the Indians.

Methacton’s third-doubles team of A.J. Schneider and Ethan O’Brien also won 6-0, 6-0, joining singles reps Jeff Cooper, Darren Brady and Akash Suresh. UP’s best showing was fourth doubles, where Elias Brendle and Evan Bosler forced their duel with Methacton’s Avery Garber and Gavin Jacobs to a tiebreaker.

Boyertown 5, Pope John Paul II 2 >> A sweep of the doubles matches was key to the Bears handling the Golden Panthers in Friday’s PAC match.

Boyertown was headed by the 6-0, 6-0 results from the doubles teams of Brett McMenamin/Chris Cossa annd Luke Brisbois/Jake Boughter in the third and fourth slots, respectively. PJP’s points came from Tommy Rutkowski at first singles and A.J. Mares at third singles.

Pottsgrove 4, Owen J. Roberts 3 >> Winning three of four doubles pairings enabled the Falcons to edge the Wildcats in Friday’s PAC match.

Pottsgrove’s first-doubles team of Shane Gleason and Colton DiCriscio had the match’s best showing, a 6-0, 6-0 win. OJR had two of its points in the first two singles duels, won by Jason Sawicki and Talan Nguyen.
