Reporter/Times Herald Lacrosse Roundup: Souderton earns emotional win over Pennsbury
Souderton 8, Pennsbury 6 >> Souderton earned an SOL National win on an emotional night for the Indians, who played in honor of defenseman Manny Puente’s father, who passed a way a year ago Friday.
Kobe Bui had three goals and an assist for Big Red, which led 6-4 at halftime. The Indians scored the only two goals in the third quarter to go up four then held on in the fourth.
Ty Quintois scored twice for the Indians (5-3, 2-3), Tylson Bui added a goal and an assist while Seth Grossman and Jamion McDevitt each had a goal. Defenseman Nick Curotto collected an assist on a full-field pass.
For Pennsbury (5-2, 3-1), the loss snapped a four-game win streak.
Pennridge 16, Truman 3 >> Chris Fanelli and Jack Lenox both finished with four goals and an assist as Pennridge rolled in the SOL National contest to claims its second straight win.
Ryan Carickhoff recorded three goals and an assist while Frankie Fanelli had two goals and two assists for the Rams, who led 9-1 at halftime.
Tom Hart chipped in a goal and two assists. Matt Fleisch and Matt Seiler both scored a goal while Adam Fantaskey, Riley Craig, Matt Kriney, Drew Ferguson and Sam Kuhns all had an assist.
Pennridge’s Ben Souder was 12-of-14 on faceoffs. Sean Gereaghty made three saves while Tyler Vandermark had one save.
Lansdale Catholic 17, Roman Catholic 4 >> Mikey Kleinert and Pat McKeever each scored five goals, Kleinert also handing out three assists while McKeever had a pair of helpers as Lansdale Catholic cruised to a Philadelphia Catholic League win.
Connor Mann collected four goals and two assists with Pat Cooney posting three assists for the Crusaders.
Jake Lesher, Kieran O’Donnell and Patch Flannery each scored a goal while Connor Flanegan made four saves.
Central Bucks East 5, North Penn 1 >> North Penn goalie Matt Kuhn stopped 16 shots while Dakari Luby scored the Knights’ lone goal of the SOL National contest in the fourth quarter.
The loss drops North Penn to 5-3 (2-2 conference). Central Bucks East (3-2, 3-0), which led 3-0 at halftime, picked up its third straight win.
GIRLS LACROSSE
West Chester Henderson 16, Souderton 13 >> Souderton led by three at halftime but was outscored 11-5 by visiting West Chester Henderson in the second half and lost for the first time this season.
Lauren Hallman’s six goals paced the Indians (5-1 3-0 SOL National), who were up 8-5 at the break. Reiley Knize and Clark Trowbridge both scored three times.
“We learned the importance of playing a whole 50 minutes today,” Souderton coach Claudia LaMarca said. “The Souderton that finished the game, was not the Souderton that started the game. Henderson capitalized on a lot of opportunities from the draw, which was an area we struggled with in the second half. We’re excited to get back to work tomorrow to refine some of the things we struggled with today.”
Isabel John added a goal for Big Red while Caroline Kelly and Avery Farina both had an assist.
Jenkintown 10, Lansdale Catholic 9 >> Grace Picozzi led Lansdale Catholic with three goals as the Crusaders were edge by Jenkintown in a nonleague matchup.
Keira Trainer and Emily Simpson both had two goals and an assist for LC while Kate Fredrickson finished with two goals.
