Reporter/Times Herald Softball Roundup: CB South rallies to edge Pennridge; Souderton, Hatboro-Horsham earn division wins

Central Bucks South 7, Pennridge 6 >> Jasmine Chui’s two-run home run broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the sixth and Central Bucks South held to snap a two-game losing streak in Friday’s SOL Colonial Division matchup.

Pennridge took a 5-3 lead by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth. The Titans (2-4, 2-3) tied the game with two in the bottom of then inning then added two more on Chui’s blast in the sixth.

The Rams (2-4, 1-4) tried to rally with two outs in the seventh as Chloe Coughenour’s RBI single made it a one-run game but South pitcher Madison Borowski got the next batter to fly out to seal the victory.

Chui was 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored while Borowski earned the complete-game win, allowing six runs – three earned – on nine hits, walked two and struck out five.

Grace Helbling went 2-for-4 with a home run for Pennridge, which lost its second straight. Reagan Bauman was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored with Cassandra Schillo going 2-for-4 with a run scored

CB South grabbed a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on RBI singles from Marlena Hacker, Alexandra Franck and Grace Motley.

Pennridge plated a run in both the third and fourth then took the lead in the fifth. Helbling led off the inning with a homer to knot things at three while the Rams went up two by scoring runs on a wild pitch and passed ball.

The Titans answered in bottom the fifth as Jamie Marks hit an RBI single and then scored to make it 5-5 by coming home on a wild pitch.

Hatboro-Horsham 16, Upper Dublin 0 (3) >> Amya Lundy, Kristin Myers and Abby Waeltz all hit home runs while Kendal Leitner struck out seven in throwing a three-inning no hitter as Hatboro-Horsham cruised to an SOL Liberty win.

Alyssa Tooley was 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and Kayla Tauber went 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored for the Hatters (4-0, 4-0), who took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on Lundy’s two-run homer, plated six in the second then added eight more in the third.

Lundy also doubled and finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Waeltz was 2-for-2 with three RBI and scored twice and Myers went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two run scored. Waeltz homered to lead off the second while Myers’ three-run homer made it 11-0 in the third.

Upper Dublin (1-4, 1-4) had two baserunners on the day, the Cardinals starting the third by reaching via error then drawing a walk but Leitner struck out the next three batters.

Souderton 9, Central Bucks West 0 >> Abby Burns collected 10 strikeouts in a two-hit shutout, Riley York and Ryan Zimmerman hit back-to-back home runs during Souderton’s six-run top of the sixth as the Indians earned their second straight victory.

Burns allowed Central Bucks West just a pair of singles in the second and after giving up a one-out walk in the fourth retired the final 11 Bucks batters.

Zimmerman also had a double and went 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBIs and two runs scored with York going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and scored twice. Kayley York went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and run scored for the Indians while Megan Kummer was 2-for-2 with two runs.

Souderton took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Riley York hit a RBI single then scored on a Zimmerman RBI double. The Indians made it 3-0 in the sixth on Kayley York’s RBI double then pulled away in the seventh. Riley York increased the Big Red’s lead to 6-0 with a three-run home run to center while on the next at-bat Zimmerman connected for a solo homer to left.
