Delco Girls Basketball Super 7: Monday, Jan. 6
1. Cardinal O’Hara (9-1)
The clear No. 1 team in Delco has won seven straight games. As good as the Lions have been, they have so much more room for improvement, which is a scary thought.
2. Archbishop Carroll (7-4)
The Patriots have dropped four of their last seven decisions, and have struggled against Catholic League elites, but they are firmly entrenched in the No. 2 spot for now.
3. Notre Dame (8-3)
The Irish have been impressive overall with their only losses coming at the hands of perennial state powers O’Hara, Villa Maria and Germantown Academy.
4. Bonner-Prendergast (5-4)
Senior forward Alexis Gleason and sophomore guard Bridie McCann have been excellent, but the Pandas are still in search of consistency. Even still, they’re easily a top-five team in Delco.
5. Ridley (9-1)
The Green Raiders have won eight straight and handed reigning Central League champion Garnet Valley its first regular season conference loss in nearly two years. The trifecta of Dakota Mccaughan, Lindsay Boyd and Shannen Hinchey have led Ridley to a first-place tie with Springfield. The teams meet at Ridley on Saturday.
6. Episcopal Academy (5-4)
The Churchwomen are getting better, posting a 5-1 record following three straight losses to begin the season. One of those wins was a 38-35 decision over Springfield at the O’Hara Christmas Showcase.
7. Springfield (5-4)
The Cougars haven’t fared well outside the Central League (0-4) but by the end of the regular season they should be considered a favorite in the District 1 Class 5A tournament.
