Council Rock South wrestling finishes strong in win over Neshaminy

NORTHAMPTON – Visiting Neshaminy got off to a good start Wednesday night, Dec. 16 in its Suburban One League (SOL) opener at Council Rock South, though it was the Golden Hawks who finished the dual meet strong.

After dropping the first five bouts, CR South took the last nine matchups with junior Zack Trampe (132 pounds), freshman Eric Woloshyn (138), senior Nick Verdi (152), senior Lucas Martoccio (160), senior Dylan Schwartz (170) and junior Joe Doyle (195) all winning by fall.

With his team trailing 25-0, CR South junior Cary Palmer (126) got the Hawks’ comeback started, winning by tech fall with a 20-5 victory over Skins’ 126-pounder Asaph Alexander in the third period. Twin brother Riley Palmer, who is wrestling at 145 pounds this year, then decisioned former CR South grappler Joey Little, 5-2 and Tyler Gettmann decisioned Noah Kisselback – a two-time Southeast Regional qualifier, 4-3 to wrap a 47-25 Hawks victory, their first win of the season in as many dual meets.

Neshaminy junior Kyle Osterhoudt (220) and senior Bruce Graeber – a state medalist in 2015 – got the score headed in the Skins’ direction with second-period pins of their counterparts Shane and John Anderson, respectively.

Neshaminy freshman Colton Jordan (106) won his lightweight bout with CR South freshman Maximo Mendez, 11-1, Skins 113-pounder Mike Megahan pinned sophomore Collin Waterman in the third period and freshman Jackson Erb decisioned Hawks 120-pounder Mike McKinney, 3-2.

After that it was all South.

The Hawks, who captured a District 1 championship in 2014, were runners-up in both individual and team competition in last year’s postseason.
