Abington’s Gesing, McHugh win SOL Liberty titles >> Abington’s Conor Gesing and Alicia McHugh both set Wissahickon Natatorium records in earning first-place finishes at the SOL Liberty Division Diving Championships, Gesing winning the boys title with 583.70 points while McHugh claimed he girls gold with 371.00 points.
On the boys side, Plymouth Whitemarsh had the next thee finishes after Gesing — Michael Flamm finishing second (386.60), Brad Rhodes third (337.40) and Jed Alderfer fourth (319.55).
Wissahickon’s Regan Santoro took second in the girls championships with 341.90 points. Upper Dublin claimed the next three places — Lexi Brown third (317.60), Madelyn Fagan fourth (291.55) and Abby Rizutto fifth (287.40).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Germantown Academy 59, SCH Academy 31 >> Isabella Casey scored a game-high 17 points as Germantown Academy got off to a fast start in the Inter-Ac matchup and rolled to its fourth consecutive victory.
Kendall Bennett finished with 12 points for the Patriots (13-6, 6-2 league), who led 20-2 after the first quarter and 39-13 at halftime. Maya McDermott’s 10 points paced the Blue Devils (4-13, 2-9).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Jenkintown 63, Renaissance Academy 33 >> Tommy Walsh and Jake Hilton both scored 19 points as Jenkintown used a strong second half to cruise to a second straight win.
The Drakes (6-14, 6-7 BAL Presidents) ended the first quarter up 14-4, extended the margin to 30-12 at halftime then finished the third leading 45-19. Lanier Baird scored 12 points for Renaissance Academy (3-17, 3-11 BAL Presidents).
WRESTLING
Souderton 55, Hatboro-Horsham 15 >> Eight of Souderton’s 10 victories came via pin as the Indians topped Hatboro-Horsham in the SOL nondivision dual meet.
Earning falls for Big Red were Charlie Arobone (113), Gisele Ramirez (120), AJ Stayton (126), Andrew Hallman (138), Dan Soulliard (145), Ben Beckett (160), Brayden Crawford (172) and Kole Lester (189). Souderton’s Erick Dominguez claimed an 11-1 major decision win at 152.
The Hatters’ Hunter Long (215) and Andy Alameda-Guzman both won by pin.
Central Bucks East 48, Central Bucks South 24 >> Central Bucks East got five pins from Tyler Tanner (152), Joseph Mignon (160), Mason Stein (172), Nils Updale (189( and Quinn Collins (215) to claim the win in the SOL Colonial Division dual meet.
Gabe Whittington (132) and Brian Schmidt (145) earned falls for Central Bucks South.
