BOYS BASKETBALL
Souderton 54, Upper Dublin 48 >> Jay Bonnet made four 3-pointers in leading all scorers with 21 points as Souderton beat Upper Dublin for the second time this season to win the West Chester Rustin tournament championship game Wednesday night.
Aleks Smith and Paul Vince each had 10 points for the Indians (7-2, 2-2 SOL Colonial), who won their fourth straight. Souderton led 28-22 at halftime.
DJ Cerisier had 16 points for the Cardinals (4-2, 2-0 SOL Liberty), which had a three-game win streak snapped. Seaton Kukla chipped in 10 points.
North Penn 68, Perk Valley 59 (OT) >> Milind Pulugura collected five of his game-high 22 points in overtime as North Penn outscored host Perkiomen Valley 14-5 in the extra session to earn the win in the PV Holiday Shootout contest.
Joe Larkins scored 11 of his 19 points in the second quarter for the Knights (5-3, 3-1 SOL Colonial) while all 11 of Mario Sgro’s points came in the fourth and OT.
Julian Sadler had 14 points to pace Perk Valley (3-4, 1-0 PAC Liberty), which led 40-38 after three quarters. Dawson Debebe scored 13 points, Vance Sadler had 11 points while Shane Nelson finished with 10 points.
Methacton 46, Wissahickon 32 >> Cole Hargrove recorded a double-double as Methacton stayed unbeaten, the senior finishing with 18 points and 14 rebounds in the Warriors’ PV Holiday Shootout victory.
Brett Byrne supped nine points for Methacton (6-0), which led 22-16 at halftime and stretched its advantage to 34-23 going into the fourth.
Dom Vacchiano scored a team-high 10 points for Wissahickon (5-3, 3-1 SOL Liberty).
Pennridge 69, Avon Grove 62 >> Matt Campione poured in 21 points as Pennridge ended a six-game skid by topping Avon Grove in the Boyertown tournament consolation game.
Tommy Cramer added 17 points while Xavier Peters and Tyler Johnson both scored 12 points for the Rams (2-6, 0-4 SOL Colonial), who trailed by a point entering the fourth then proceeded to outscore the Red Devils 22-14.
Avon Grove’s Tyler Arnold and Tyler Newman each scored 22 points.
Central Bucks East 59, Ocean City (N.J.) 40 >> Joey Giordano and Liam Cummiskey both scored 13 points while Giordano had six of Central Bucks East’s 17 steals in its win at the Boardwalk Basketball Classic in Wildwood, New Jersey.
Brett Young chipped in nine points, Nick Rivera had five steals, five assists and two points and Joshua Lyzinski blocked five shots for East (6-1, 3-1 SOL Colonial), which led 27-19 at halftime then outscored Ocean City 19-12 in the third.
The Patriots face Germantown Friends in the John Pierantozzi Bracket championship game 8:15 p.m. Thursday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Pennridge 66, Boyertown 47 >> Katie Yoder went off for 29 points as Pennridge dominated the middle quarters to end a three-game losing streak and win the Boyertown tournament consolation game.
Anna Croyle added 14 points for the Rams (5-3, 2-2 SOL Colonial), who outscored Boyertown (0-8, 0-2 PAC Liberty) 19-9 in the second quarter to go up 27-17 at halftime then increased their lead to 48-29 by the end of the third.
Plymouth Whitemarsh 64, Caravel Academy (Del.) 44 >> Kaitlyn Flanagan scored a career-high 20 points to go with nine assists, eight rebounds and two steals as Plymouth Whitemarsh stayed perfect by rolling past Caravel Academy in the Diamond State Classic at the Tatnall School in Wilmington.
Erin Daley finished with a career-best 16 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Colonials (5-0, 2-0 SOL Liberty), who led 34-18 at halftime. Jordyn Thomas had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists while Lainey Allen posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Archbishop Carroll 57, Episcopal Academy 34 >> Grace O’Neill knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in scoring 21 points and also collected seven rebounds and four assists as Archbishop Carroll pulled away in the third to claim a win at the Cardinal O’Hara tournament.
Brooke Wilson had 13 points, six rebounds and five assists while Taylor Wilson added 12 points for the Patriots (5-3), who led 25-16 at halftime then outscored Episcopal Academy 21-11 in the third.
Riley Cassidy’s 13 points paced EA (6-3, 0-1 Inter-Ac).
GIRLS WRESTLING
Souderton shines at Governor Mifflin Tournament >> Kayla Husti-Luca went 4-0 with four falls and 10 takedowns as the Souderton girls wrestling team took part in its first official competition Tuesday at the Governor Mifflin tournament.
Gisele Ramirez was 3-0 with three falls while Trinity Monaghan went 2-0 with a two falls for the Indians, who are the only sanctioned girls team in District 1.
BOYS SWIMMING
Souderton places second in tri-meet >> Logan Freed and Drew Stephens went 1-2, respectively in the 200 individual medley and also swam on Souderton’s winning 200 medley relay as the Indians earned second in their tri-meet with Emmaus and host Cumberland Valley.
Emmaus took first with 208 points, Souderton totaled 159 points while CV had 133 points.
Freed posted a 2:06.61 to win the 200 IM while Stephens was second at 2:08.68. The two along with Abraham Bleazard and Robbie Ferlick claimed first in the 200 medley relay in 1:42.16.
Ferlick was second in both the 50 free (22.38) and 100 fly (55.18) with Big Red also had second-place finishes from Freed in the 100 free (50.57), William Stanczewski in the 200 free (1:50.48) and Elijah Gehman in the 100 breast (1:07.66).
GIRLS SWIMMING
Souderton takes second at tri-meet >> Souderton’s 400 free relay of Abby Burns, Anna Stauffer, Mikayla Scardino and Jessica Burns took first in a time of 3:39.71 to help the Indians finish second in a tri-meet against host Cumberland Valley and Emmaus.
CV won the meet with 232.50 points, Souderton had 167.50 points with Emmaus finishing with 100 points.
Jessica Burns placed second in both the 100 free (54.63) and 100 individual medley (2:09.95). Big Red also got second-place finishes from Amy Masciulli in the 500 free (5:30.72), Anna Stauffer in the 200 free (1:58.04) and Alayna Capaldi in the 100 breast (1:10.53).
