DLN roundup: Kennett’s Hulme scores 300th career point in win against Methacton

Kennett’s Zach Hulme scored his 300th career point as the Blue Demons boys’ lacrosse team defeated Methacton, 20-3. Hulme finished the game with 10 goals and two assists, while Bo Freebery (four goals, five assists) and Colin Jung (five goals) also highlighted the Kennett attack. Colin Kelly won 25 of 26 faceoffs, and Kennett held Methacton scoreless in the second half.
Downingtown West 14, Oxford 2 >> Bram Monroe had four goals and Bret Bergey scored three times to lead the Whippets. Eddie Moore (one goal), Thomas Venzie (one goal), Dylan Cicero (one goal, one assist), Ty Raines (one goal, one assist), Brady Cetera (one goal, one assist) and Ryan Merrick (one goal) rounded out the scoring for D-West. Dom Varano went 10-for-13 at faceoff and Freddy Bivens-Sadler recorded his first career win in goal.
West Chester Rustin 5, Coatesville 3 >> Jake Jackson and Antonio Santangelo each scored two goals for the Golden Knights. Other Rustin contributors included Marek Seaman (one goal, one assist), Drew Munro (two assists), Gavin Seaman and Jake Law (combined to win eight of 11 faceoffs) and goalie Billy Carney (eight saves). For Coatesville, Derek Cooper and Magnus Cluser scored and goalie Dax Shallis recorded 12 saves.
Bishop Shanahan 7, West Chester East 1 >> Colin Gaffney scored two goals and had one assist for the Eagles, while teammate Ronan Miller won 11 of 15 faceoffs and scored a goal. Goalie Joe Pezone recorded seven saves.
West Chester Henderson 5, Great Valley 2 >> Max Abrahams had a hat trick for the Warriors, and Carmen Cortese and Seamus Murphy each scored one goal for the victors. Giules DiLiberto and Luis Galan combined for 12 saves.
Radnor 9, Conestoga 0 >> For the Pioneers, Mikey Johnson recorded 16 saves and Holt McGinn won nine of 14 faceoffs.
Girls’ Lacrosse
Bishop Shanahan 15, West Chester East 7 >> Caitlyn Hubiak had a hat trick for the Eagles, and teammates Annabelle Wiedel, Silvia Baptista, Amelia Benner and Stella D’Ambro each scored two goals. D’Ambro and Sam D’Addezio combined to win nine draw controls for Shanahan.
Radnor 9, Conestoga 8 >> The Raptors scored the winning goal with nine seconds left. Kate Galica had a hat trick for the Pioneers (15-3), while Ellie Wisch scored two goals. Piper Kienzle had two assists and goalie Alex Depore recorded four saves.
Downingtown West 20, Oxford 14 >> For the Hornets, senior Olivia Voss scored four goals and won six draw controls, and junior Alexis Reinard tallied five goals and five assists.
Softball
Unionville 7, Great Valley 1 >> For the Longhorns, Addison Smith went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a home run and a double. She also struck out eight batters. Madeline Tomasco went 2-for-3 for Unionville, and teammate Julie Matsinger went 1-for-3 with an RBI. For Great Valley, Chloe Becker went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Coatesville 23, Kennett 2 >> The Raiders used a 16 run outburst in the first inning en route to victory. Maddie Carpenter had three hits, including a double and home run, and three RBIs. Danielle Sweigart added three hits and five RBIs. Ashlynn Sherman picked up the win in the circle.
