Main Line roundup: Lower Merion boys tennis team advances to District 1 3A team final

Lower Merion defeated Unionville 3-1, Monday to advance to the finals of the PIAA District 1 3A tournament. At first singles, Brian Yi defeated Matt Miller, 6-0, 6-0; at second singles, Mark Lancaster defeated Andrew Ou, 6-1, 6-3; and at third singles, Nathan Dolgushev defeated Matt Farrell, 6-0, 6-1. At first doubles, Unionville’s Jack Barrickman and Ryan Megill defeated Hayden Masotti and Stoyan Angelov, 6-4, 6-2; and at second doubles, Lower Merion’s David Liu and Charlie Bittinger were leading Nate Butler and Andy Ye, 6-4, 6-5, when the match was clinched.
The championship final, No. 1 seed Lower Merion against No. 2 seed Conestoga, will be played Tuesday. The Pioneers defeated No. 3 seed Downingtown East to advances to the championship finals.
On May 5, Lower Merion defeated Garnet Valley 3-0 to advance to the District 1 semifinals. At first singles, Yi defeated Ashrith Settivari, 6-0, 6-0; at second singles, Lancaster was ahead against Shiven Patel, 6-2, 0-1, when the match was clinched; and at third singles, Dolgushev defeated Rithik Brahma, 6-1, 6-1. At first doubles, Masotti and Angelov were ahead against Vishal Brahma and Braden Rogers, 6-2, 5-0, when the match was clinched; and at second doubles, Liu and Bittinger defeated Arnav Agarwal and Sahil Saleem, 6-1, 6-1.
On May 3, Lower Merion defeated Chichester 5-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Harriton defeated Upper Dublin, 3-0, Monday, in the PIAA District 1 3A play backs to advance to the fifth-place match against Upper Dublin Tuesday. Five teams from District 1 3A will advance to the PIAA 3A state team tournament.
