DLN Roundup: Ward hits milestone as Kennett tops Penncrest

Megan Ward notched six goals, including the 100th of her career, as the Kennett girls lacrosse team posted a 13-11 victory over Penncrest in a nonleague contest Saturday.

The Blue Demons improved to 12-5, while Penncrest, who came into the game ranked fifth in the District 1 Class 3A power rankings, fell to 14-3.

Ward also collected eight draw controls and Mary Carroll added six. Makayla Kelly added three goals, Great Burns had two and Bridget Wells and Marissa Herring had one each.

Ellie McCracken recorded 10 saves in goal.

Downingtown East 13, Mount St. Joseph’s 8 >> Eileen Hewitt led the way with four goals as the Cougars (12-3-1) collected the nonleague victory. Lexie Conte and Sofia Fanelli added two goals and two assists each. Kary Michaels had two goals and Cameron Yard and Jayne Michaels notched one each.

Conestoga 14, Notre Dame 3 >> Kate Galica and Kiki Liebezeit had three goals each as the Pioneers (15-2) cruised to the nonleague victory. Alex Lepore rgistered 15 saves.

Boys Lacrosse
Coatesville 16, Interboro 4 >> Owen Ellis recorded his 100th career goal as he recorded six goals and four assists for the Red Raiders in the nonleague triumph. Jake Van Orden had three goals and four assists, Derek Cooper added three goals along with Kaiden Mayan.

Baseball
Coatesville 5, Downingtown West 4, 9 innings >> Dylan Jeffers worked a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning as the Red Raiders rallied to top the Whippets in a Ches-Mont League National contest on Friday. Justin Weaver homered in the seventh to tie the game. Jeffers and Jack Francis drove in two runs each. Quinn Henicle doubled in a run for the Whippets and Dalton Downie scored twice.

Downingtown West 8, Coatesville 7 >> The Whippets scored two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to post the Ches-Mont National victory. Lizzie Kern homered and drove in two runs, while Mavica Mendez delivered a two-run double. Ashlynn Sherman drove in three runs for the Red Raiders.
