Pennsbury 4, PW 0 (8): The Colonials hung tough for seven innings before falling in the 8th in SOL crossover action on Friday. Molly Moore allowed five hits and four runs while striking out seven in 7-plus innings. Rian Reed doubled and singled as part of four hits PW managed.
“Everyone knows Pennsbury is a perennial softball powerhouse in the entire state, so I’m super proud of our girls for giving it everything they had,” PW softball coach Mike Perez said. “A few bounces and calls one way or another and this could have been a totally different game but we’re walking away with our heads held high and focusing on Monday’s league game vs Wiss.”

Archbishop Wood 8, Upper Dublin 1: The Cardinals scored one in the first innings, but left 11 runners on base in a nonconference loss on Friday. Losing pitcher Meredith McKenna, Bella Fiore, Page Foley, Kaitlyn Small and Kaitlyn Zacharia all collected hits for the Cardinals.

Owen J. Roberts 16, Methacton 6: OJR sent 13 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring 9 runs. The Wildcats were led by Sophia Grillo who reached safely all 4 at bats, scored 4 runs, and went 2 for 4 with a home run. Nat Alldred, Bella Winnick, and Sophia Cerimele each contributed with a double and drove in 2 RBIs.

Baseball
Pope John Paul II 15, Pottstown 1: Aidan Sgarra hit a home run and drove in three runs as the Golden Panthers won big on Friday. Billy Fitzgerald hit a triple, while Noah Brandt doubled twice, Brendan Kenning and Blake High doubled.

Boys tennis
SOL Freedom: Lower Moreland’s Aaron Sandler lost just one game in winning his first SOL Freedom title as a senior. The Penn State recruit, playing high school tennis for the first time, defeated Cheltenham’s Keane Dougherty 8-0 in the quarterfinals, Cheltenham’s Royce Goldman in the semifinals (6-0, 6-0) and unfortunately Springfield Township’s Julian Casabon suffered an injury trailing 2-1 in the finals. Sandler has now qualified for the District 1-2A Tournament at the Springfield YMCA on Friday where he will be an overwhelming favorite. In the third place match Lower Moreland’s No. 2 Jacob Heller defeated Goldman 6-2, 6-4.

Upper Dublin 6, CB West 1: The Cardinals improved to a perfect 10-0 with the nonconference win on Friday. The Cardinals swept the doubles match, including a three-setter from No. 2 Hugh Devine/Tripp Mangifesto 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. over Dominic Swain/Jason Maher. The singles matches had their share of drama too with Timothy Sheaffer surviving a marathon of a three-setter 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4) over Kevin Su.

Girls lacrosse
Coatesville 15, Souderton 7: Avery Farina, Anah Petrovich and Ang Borisow each scored two goals but the Indians took the nonconference loss on Friday. Carly Gavetti also scored for Souderton, while Gabby Hirschman made nine saves in net.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy 12, Wissahickon 11, OT: Audrey Beck scored five goals as the Monarchs won a thriller against Wissahickon on Friday. Colleen Mullin and Bailey Balikir each added three goals, while Ellie Verrisi also scored. Alexa McCabe scored four goals and added one assist to pace Wissahickon, while Emma Greenberg added two goals. Maddie Radell (three assists), Ellie Stein and Sophia Stehlik also scored for the Trojans. Ava Fell made nine saves in net.

Methacton 16, Upper Perk 11: Michelle Zhai scored six goals and added six assists as the Warriors held on for the PAC win on Friday. Megan Sanelli added five goals, Lily DeWan scored twice, while Mackenzie Coupe, Renee Blake and Giada Catoia also scored goals.

Boys lacrosse
Lansdale Catholic 15, Roman Catholic 0: Dan Curran scored three goals, dished out three assists and won 16 faceoffs as the Crusaders ran away with the PCL win on Friday. Patch Flannery (two assists) and Gavin Selchert both scored three goals, while Caleb Moiser and Colin Cossman added two apiece. Sean McMahon (four assists) and Shane Gillen also scored for LC, while Jack Kennedy made 10 saves in net.
