The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media 2022 All-Area Football Teams
The Upper Dublin and Central Bucks football teams completed 2022 with strong postseason runs.
Upper Dublin reached the PIAA Class 5A semifinals after winning its second District 1 championship in three years. CB West meanwhile, pulled off a pair of upsets in the 6A playoffs to advance to its first district final since 2000.
Great finishes come from great individual efforts and both the Cardinals and Bucks have players earning spots on the First Team of the The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media All-Area Football Teams.
Upper Dublin had a trio named to the first team headed by 2022 Football Athlete of the Year Colin O’Sullivan at quarterback. The senior threw for 2,831 yards and 36 touchdowns for the 14-1 Cards. Joining him are senior Kyree Butler at both offensive and defensive line while senior DJ Cerisier earned first-team honors at cornerback for the second straight year.
West, meanwhile, had a pair of offensive standouts make the first team in senior running back Eli Boehm – who ran for 1,646 yards and 16 touchdowns and caught another 3 TDs – and wide receiver Conor McFadden, who finished his junior campaign with 74 catches for 929 yards and 10 touchdowns.
With Boehm in the first team backfield is Central Bucks East senior Ethan Shine, who totaled 1,911 rushing yards and 27 total TDs – 25 on the ground – to help lead the Patriots to an 8-3 record.
North Penn senior Yazeed Haynes was stellar in his one season with the Knights, the Georgia commit earning first team at wide receiver after hauling in 54 receptions for 1,163 yards and 12 touchdowns.
At tight end, CB East junior Jack Donnelly set school records for catches (36) and receiving yards (571) for the position. Patriots teammate senior Liam Powers – heading to Penn State as a preferred walk-on – is part of a first team offensive line that includes Butler, Archbishop Wood senior Cole Evans (an Army commit), North Penn senior Mikai Green and Pope John Paul II senior Nyzir Lake.
Dylan McKenzie did a bit of everything for Springfield-Montco to earn a place on the first team at the all-purpose position. The senior played running back – rushing for 354 yards and six TDs in a win over Tennent – cornerback (six interceptions), wide receiver along with kicking, punter and returning kicks.
Like Butler, East’s Shine earned a second spot on the All-Area first team on the defensive side at linebacker after recording 79 tackles and 15 tackles for loss.
Also selected at linebacker are Central Bucks South junior Sean Moskowitz, who finished with 103 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, a sack and four fumble recoveries and Plymouth Whitemarsh senior Tommy Hannon, who helped the Suburban One League American Conference champs post four shutouts.
On the defensive line, Butler, La Salle senior Darold Dengohe (James Madison commit) and Archbishop Wood’s Eric Garner (Army commit) all made the first team for a second consecutive season. Completing the front four is Cheltenham senior Kion Wright, who tallied 96 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
Along with Cerisier, the first team secondary features Germantown Academy senior Evan Spivey – a Coastal Carolina commit – La Salle senior Kelby Hampton and Souderton senior Shaun Purvy.
Souderton senior Ty Quintois earned first-team selection at kicker with Plymouth Whitemarsh senior Seve Spruill earning the honor at punter.
