Lansdale Catholic speeds past New Hope-Solebury to get to 3-0

LOWER GWYNEDD >> Lansdale Catholic scored a touchdown every time it had the ball in the first half on Saturday night, turning 20 plays from scrimmage into 35 points.

“That first half…so clean,” said a smiling Ian Gramlich, who dashed into the end zone on a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cole Meehan to climax an explosive first half. “You couldn’t stop us.”

The Crusaders led 35-0 at the half to enforce the mercy rule and a running clock and went on to a thorough 42-6 victory over New Hope-Solebury to raise their unbeaten record to 3-0.

“That was a great team win. Now we’re ready to go beat Neumann-Goretti,” Gramlich said of LC’s Philadelphia Catholic League Blue Division opener Friday. “We have a lot of momentum and I feel like it’s gonna be good for us.”

The Crusaders led 7-0 less than five minutes in and were up 14-0 on just their third offensive play.

“They’re on a mission,” said coach Dom D’Addona, who saw his team turn in another dominant performance on both sides of the ball. “They’re anxious to get it started in league play.”

The Crusaders scored on their first offensive play.

Meehan threw a screen to Jacahi Streeter, who weaved his way out of traffic and was on his way to a 94-yard sprint for a score, giving LC a 7-0 lead.

Streeter had a terrific performance: four catches for 155 yards and a TD, and another 13 yards on the ground.

Meehan completed his first eight passes of the contest, including a 31-yard touchdown pass to Efrain Quiles that boosted the lead to 14-0.

“They played well – up front and all the skill guys. They really played well,” D’Addona said.

LC was just getting started.

Meehan ran into the end zone for a nine-yard score and a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Yeboa Cobbold scored on a 21-yard pass from Meehan and then Gramlich hauled in his 33-yarder with 35 ticks left in the first half to make it 35-0 at the break.

Meehan finished 11-of-13 for 276 yards and four scores.

“The quarterback went off. Jacahi went off,” Gramlich said of the high-powered attack. “We just gotta clean up the penalties. Now we gotta go beat Neumann – that’s where our focus is.”
