Presenting the 2021-22 All-Main Line girls basketball teams

The 2021-22 Main Line high school girls’ basketball season featured a deep lineup of successful squads, including a trio of district champions.
In the Central League, Haverford (20-8, 13-3) finished first in the league’s regular season. The Fords, Harriton (16-11), Radnor (16-10) and Conestoga (13-8) all advanced to the PIAA District 1 tournament.
Archbishop Carroll (21-6) captured the PIAA District 12 6A championship and went undefeated in the Catholic League during the regular season.
Among the Main Line’s AACA schools, Villa Maria Academy won the District 1 5A title, Sacred Heart Academy once again captured the District 1 2A championship (its 6th District 1 title in a row) and Merion Mercy (13-12) posted a winning ledger.
Academy of Notre Dame (15-9), Episcopal Academy (19-8) and Friends’ Central (16-10) also enjoyed strong seasons, and Barrack Hebrew Academy (16-4) finished second in the Penn-Jersey League regular season and tournament.
The All-Main Line high school girls’ basketball teams are selected by the coaches. Because Main Line Media News covers 19 high schools, the Main Line Media News sports staff limits the number of sports available to first team, second team and honorable mention – but follows the priority of the coaches’ selections.
What follows are the 2022 All-Main Line high school girls’ basketball teams:

FIRST TEAM
Maeve McErlane, Academy of Notre Dame – Senior guard, the Inter-Ac’s Most Valuable Player and Markward Player of the Year, averaged 17.8 ppg, 5 rpg, 2.3 spg and 2.9 apg. A 1,000 point career scorer, she was MVP of She Got Game Classic; Super Games at the Shore; Blue Star Invitational. Has signed to play basketball for DePaul University.
Grace O’Neill, Archbishop Carroll – Senior guard and co-captain, a first team All-Catholic League selection and a 4-time All-Main Line first team selection, scored more than 1,000 point in her illustrious Pariot career. For the season, she averaged 15 ppg, 2.8 apg, 3.3 rpg, and 2 spg.
Taylor Wilson, Archbishop Carroll – Junior 6-foot forward, a first team All-Catholic League selection, averaged 14.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 1.5 spg for the powerful Patriots.
Dayna Felger, Barrack Hebrew Academy – Senior guard, a four-time Penn-Jersey League all-star and the Cougars MVP, was an all-around performer who averaged 13.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 3.3 apg and 3.3 spg.
Kate Galica, Conestoga – Junior forward was Pioneers’ Most Valuable Player and an All-Central League pick. A talented and versatile all-around athlete, she averaged 10 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 spg, 2 apg and shot 50 percent from the field.
Riley Cassidy, Episcopal Academy – Senior 5-foot-10 guard, a first team All-Inter-Ac selection, averaed 13.7 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 39 percent from 3-point territory and 82 percent from the free throw line. Will play basketball for Muhlenberg College.
Madison Smith, Friends’ Central – Senior forward was the Most Valuable Player of a strong Phoenix squad, averaging 16.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 2.0 spg. Scored more than 1,000 points in her Friends’ Central career.
Annie Aspesi, Harriton – Senior guard, a 1,000 career point scorer for the Rams and a first team All-Central League pick (for the third time), averaged 13.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 3 apg and 2 spg. Averaged 18 ppg during 8-game win streak to put young Rams squad in league and district playoffs.
Caroline Dotsey, Haverford High – Junior 6-foot-1 forward, a first team All-Central League selection, averaged a team-leading 15.3 ppg and team-leading 10.4 rpg, and blocked nearly one shot per contest.
Lucy Curry, Merion Mercy Academy – Senior forward and captain, a first team All-AACA selection, averaged 12.5 ppg, 10.4 rpg and 3 bpg. Noted for her versatility and scoring ability from all over the court.
Mary Sareen, Radnor – Junior guard, an All-Central League selection, was the Raptors Most Valuable Player, averaging 10.4 ppg, 4 apg, 3 spg and 70 percent from the free throw line.
Ainsley Davis, Sacred Heart Academy – Senior forward was an important cog in the Lions’ District 1 championship drive, averaging 11.5 ppg and 7 rpg.
Clare Cronley, Villa Maria Academy – Junior guard, an All-AACA performer, led the Hurricanes in scoring, was a productive 3-point shooter and pulled down 5.6 rebounds per game. Also valued for her defense and quiet leadership.

Baldwin School – Kaya Weiser, senior guard.

Episcopal Academy – Gaeli Keffer-Scharpf, junior forward; Amanda Purcell, senior guard.
Friends’ Central – Sana’a Garrett, junior guard.
Harriton – Maretta Smith, senior guard.
