PIAA Championships: Grossi part of a special group at La Salle

LEWISBURG — For Tim Grossi and the La Salle seniors, the bond has just begun.

“We’re gonna move on in life and we’re gonna be friends forever,” Grossi said of the group. “We’re never gonna lose this bond. We’re never gonna forget each other. I’ll never forget this group.”

Grossi and his senior teammates had quite a performance out at the PIAA Championships on Wednesday and Thursday, getting incredible swims up and down the lineup and pushing hard to the wall in every last event.

This year, it was Seneca Valley that would stand atop Class 3A, but La Salle – earning State Runner-Up honors – dug down as deep as it could.

North Penn and La Salle were second and third in the 400 free relay at the PIAA Championships on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Kev Hunter, MediaNews.

“We gave it everything we had. We really wanted to come out on top. Sometimes things just don’t fall your way,” said Grossi. “At the end of the day, you just gotta keep your head high. We knew it was gonna come down to the last relay. We just couldn’t pull it out, and that’s alright. That’s life.”

Grossi and fellow senior Quinn Buck were both individual medalists on Thursday and also medaled on the relay.

It was deep, experienced group for the Explorers.

“I love them. We had 10 seniors. Six of them came here (to states),” said Grossi, who will swim at The University of Delaware next year. “We all knew our role. We all knew what we needed to do.”
