Delco Roundup: Academy Park rolls on road to third straight victory; Interboro gets first win

Joe Davis scored twice as Academy Park rolled over Reading, 41-6, in nonleague football action Friday night at Albright College.

Academy Park (3-0) scored the first 41 points before the Red Knights spoiled the shutout bid. Davis scored on runs of nine and six yards to pace the offense. Khalil Greenwood took a screen pass from Darrell Fields to the house to open the scoring for AP.

Ibrahim “Abe” Sanogo raced 25 yards to make it 19-0. Eric Willis returned a punt 40 yards for a TD and Terrence Oliver closed out the scoring for Academy Park on a 10-yard run.

Ruben Rodriguez got Reading on the board with a 64-yard jaunt in the fourth quarter.

In other nonleague action:

Interboro 43, Executive Academy Charter 6 >> The defense scored twice to help the Bucs (1-2) pick up their first win of the season.

Aakee Brooks returned an interception in the first quarter to give Interboro a 15-0 lead. Zakee Brooks added a pick six in the fourth quarter to make is 37-6. Billy Kyle, Robert Forbes, Abe Kamara and Anthony Barr also scored for Interboro.

Episcopal Academy 34, Roman Catholic 26 >> Kicker Christian Bush came up big for the Churchmen. Bush kicked two field goals and four extra points to finish with 10 points to help EA rally from a 20-17 deficit.

Jake Jaszcz pulled in a 35-yard pass from quarterback Jake Fant with 33 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Churchmen a 24-20 lead at halftime. Jack Hurda raced 39 yards in the third quarter to extend the lead to 31-20. Bush booted a 20-yard field goal after the Cahillites got to within 31-26. Bush had a 21-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Andrew McKeekin scored the first two touchdowns for EA on runs of 13 and eight yards.

Lancaster Catholic 21, Archbishop Carroll 19 >> The Patriots made a late charge but could not get the tying two-point conversion after Deveyon Fitzgerald’s 47-yard touchdown reception with five seconds left. The Crusaders recovered the onside kick to ensure the victory.

Lancaster Catholic jumped out to a 21-7 lead, thanks to two touchdown runs by Tony Cruz and another by Terrell Crawley. The Patriots, though, did not give up. Mason Streko recovered a bad snap on a punt for a touchdown and Fitzgerald got Carroll within two points with his TD reception but that was as close as the Patriots (0-3) would get.

Victor Taylor took a bubble screen from James Wright 56 yards for Carroll’s first score.

Chester 18, Martin Luther King 6 >> The Clippers improved to 3-0 with their second win on the road.

Berks Catholic 39, Chichester 29 >> The visiting Saints jumped out to a 25-7 halftime lead and held on as the Eagles made a late charge.

Delaware Military Academy 42, Bonner-Prendergast 14 >> Quarterback B.J. Alleyne ran for a touchdown and threw for another in the first half to help the visiting Seahawks open their season with a win on the road.

Mason Peterson got the Friars (2-1) within 14-7 on a 15-yard run but it was all DMA after that.
