Reporter/Times Herald Baseball Roundup (May 19): Bohn, Seelig help North Penn earn 3rd straight win
North Penn 15, Hatboro-Horsham 6 >> Tyler Bohn hit a three-run home run in the top of the sixth, Colby Seelig doubled three times and North Penn won its third straight game in Wednesday’s Suburban One League nondivision contest.
Bohn finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored while Seelig went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Knights (14-5, 11-5 SOL Colonial), who have won nine of their last 10.
Quinn Marett was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored for NP, Jack Picozzi went 3-for-5 with a double, RBI and three runs scored while John Carson was 2-for-4 with two runs. Brian Neal had two RBIs and Erik Bergey scored twice.
Cole Fisher went 2-for-3 with an RBI and double for Hatboro-Horsham (12-8, 11-5 SOL Liberty). Zach Greenberg was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored with Will Bruner going 2-for-3.
North Penn starting pitcher Sean Brennan earned the win, allowing two runs – both earned – on two hits in four innings. He walked two and struck out seven.
The Hatters led 2-1 after an inning but North Penn scored a run each in the next three frames to go up 4-2 before plating six in the fifth – the first three on Bohn’s homer to left – for a 10-2 lead.
Radnor 11, Plymouth Whitemarsh 7 >> Radnor broke a 4-4 tie with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Plymouth Whitemarsh ended its regular season with a nonleague loss.
Alex Wilkie-Viscio was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Luke Gartland collected two RBIs for the Colonials (17-3, 14-2 SOL Liberty), who had a two-game win streak snapped.
Shane Rebane was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs for Radnor while Patrick Mannix finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Will Reger had an RBI and scored twice with Scott Belveal scoring two runs.
The teams combined for 19 walks – 10 by PW, who lead 3-0 after scoring three in the top of the second. Radnor tallied two runs in both the bottom of the second and the third to lead 4-3.
A Gartland RBI single pulled the Colonials even 4-4 in their half of the fourth but Radnor took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame.
A bases-loaded error on Mike Sears’ grounder put Radnor ahead with a Reger walk and Rebane RBI single made it 7-4. After a Mannix two-RBI single, Rebane stole home for a 10-4 Radnor lead.
Methacton 17, Cheltenham 2 (4) >> Jude Wozniak finished 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored, Jake Chapman went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored and Methacton rolled to four-inning nonleague win.
Mike Christian was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two run scored for the Warriors, who took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first. After Cheltenham scored twice in the top of the fourth to make it 8-2, Methacton brought home nine runs in the bottom of the inning – Chapman ending the game with a walk-off RBI single.
Jake Maggio collected two RBIs and two runs scored, Matthew Christian had a double, two RBIs and a run scored while Logan Kelly had two RBIs.
