Mercury Track & Field Roundup (April 28): Boyertown girls squeak by Methacton, 76-74

Boyertown 76, Methacton 74 >> Renee Simmonds and Lillian Mauger each won three events Wednesday to head the Bears’ narrow PAC Liberty Division victory over the Warriors.

Simmonds took the 300 hurdles, shot put and discus while Mauger won the 100, 200 and long jump. Gabrielle McKee added a pair of firsts in the 1,600 and 3,200 to Boyertown’s point total while Madi Eastmure headed the 100 low hurdles and high jump for Methacton.

Owen J. Roberts 97, Perkiomen Valley 44 >> Morgan Weaver was a three-event winner for the Wildcats during Wednesday’s PAC Liberty Division meet with the Vikings.

Weaver scored her firsts in the 100 (13.06), 200 (27.02) and 400 (1:02.50). Other multi-event winners for Roberts were Alyssa Greiner in the 300 intermediate and 100 low hurdles, and Erin Hendershot in the discus and javelin.

Boys track & field

Owen J. Roberts 90, Perkiomen Valley 51 >> Zach Taylor and Brendan Arcara each won two events Wednesday to help the Wildcats outrun the Vikings in their PAC Liberty Division meet.

Taylor took the long jump in 21-1 and the triple jump in 43-2, and Arcara headed the hurdles competition with his firsts in the 300 intermediates (44.13) and 110 highs (16.33). Ronde Washington gave PV firsts in the shot put (45-6) and the discus (109-3).

Methacton 85, Boyertown 64 >> Winning five events in the field Wednesday, the Warriors offset the Bears’ stronger showing on the track to win their PAC Liberty Division pairing.

Methacton was particularly stronger in the jumps, getting firsts from Aaron Sanchez in the high jump (5-8), Tom Heffernan in the long jump (19-11 1/4), SahBri Hill in the triple jump (41-4 1/2) and Matt Schwertfeger in the pole vault (10-0). Julian Saunders keyed Boyertown with his wins in the 100 (10,94) and 200 (22.20).
