Senior Spotlight: Pennridge’s Wasserman wants back in the fast lane

Jack Wasserman’s been doing a lot of fishing lately.
It’s enjoyable, but the Pennridge senior looks forward to one day getting back in the fast lane.
“Jack exploded in last year’s SOL (Continental) Meet and placed in the top four in the sprints,” Rams coach Bob Hosier said. “He had a great indoor season and was ready to go in the sprints and the relays in the spring.”
The shutdown wiped out the spring sports season, but there is still plenty for Wasserman to look forward to in track and field.
Next year, he’ll be competing at West Chester University.
Wasserman’s evolution in the sprints has been a joy to watch, and experience.
“It’s been crazy,” he said, “because I was not always the fastest kid in town.
“But, coach (Hosier) was really able to take me and turn me into something I could’ve never imagined.”
Big goals >> Wasserman was headed towards the spring at full steam.
“I wanted to break 50 seconds in the 400 and be a part of the best 4×4 in the state,” he said.
Wasserman was to be a key piece of the puzzle as Pennridge went for its sixth straight SOL Continental title.
“It was a lot harder because I didn’t have my team or coach there motivating me,” Wasserman said of his training leading up to the cancellation. “I still miss (my team) more than anything else really, and I’ll be excited to come home and catch up with them next year.”
Wasserman takes his abilities and experience with him on the road to West Chester.
“I liked how we were able to compete as a team and always hype up each other with our goals, no matter the level of talent,” he said of his time with the Rams. “The coaches are amazing and really have a talent for taking us in as kids and turning us into hard-working individuals that possess a strong passion for the sport.”
