Pio comes to the rescue for Strath Haven

Strath Haven was staring down the barrel of a third straight loss, until Ibo Pio had his say.

Pio scored seven of his nine points in the fourth quarter, including game-tying, game-winning and game-icing points in the final minute of a 51-47 win over Harriton Friday night.

Pio tied the game at 47 with a minute left. He then hit a layup to take the lead with 15 seconds left and converted two free throws at the line to finish a 20-12 edge in the fourth quarter.

Luke Edwards (16 points) and Justin Morris (13 points) combined to hit seven 3-pointers. Each scored five points in the fourth for Haven (10-6, 6-6 Central).

Also in the Central League:

Garnet Valley 60, Conestoga 53 >> For a second straight game, the Jaguars found themselves in overtime. For a second straight game, Max Jackowsky was the OT savior.

Jackowsky scored all eight of his points in the extra frame as GV had six players score at least six points each.

Carl Schaller scored 14 points, Gannon McKee added 12 on four made 3-pointers and Neel Beniwal added 10 for the Jaguars (16-1, 11-1 Central) in their 13th straight win.

Haverford 53, Lower Merion 41 >> Hunter Kraiza picked a fine time for a career high, scoring a career-best 18 points and hitting three 3-pointers as the Fords (9-8, 5-7) turned up the defense to limit the host Aces to 19 second-half points.

John Seidman scored 13 points, and John Schievert added eight as the Fords completed the season sweep.

Radnor 43, Springfield 41 >> The Cougars, in search of their first win, led by five points with 1:20 left before the Raiders rallied.

Jack D’Entremont led the way with 20 points for the Raiders (11-7, 6-6). Josh Savadove scored a season-best eight points in a game that was tied 30-30 after three quarters.

Cole Rhodes led Springfield (0-17, 0-12) with 18 points. Nasir Cryor added 12 points on four made triples.

Penncrest 50, Marple Newtown 38 >> Marquis Tomlin paired 16 points with seven rebounds and three assists, and Saahir Lee dished seven assists to go with 15 points and three boards.

Aidan Carroll added 10 points for the Lions (14-4, 8-4).

Owen Mathes led Marple Newtown (8-9, 5-7) with a season-high 15 points. Ben Davis added nine points.

Ridley 53, Upper Darby 48 >> The Royals trailed by as many as 19 points and got as close as two in the fourth quarter but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Josh Howard led Ridley (9-7, 7-6) with 15 points. Josh Hagan and Kahlil Henson scored 13 points each as the Green Raiders weathered a 14-for-27 day at the line to sweep UD for the season.

CJ Dabbs led Upper Darby (11-7, 6-6) with 11 points. Mo Konte added nine.

In the Bicentennial League:

Christian Academy 64, Dock Mennonite 55 >> Grant Sareyka scored 22 points as TCA (14-3, 11-0) wrestled sole possession of first place in the BAL away from Dock on the road.

Sareyka also provided six assists and five rebounds. Jordan Greene paired 16 points with seven rebounds for the Crusaders.

Delco Christian 56, Faith Christian 41 >> Jackson Piotrowski led all scorers with 24 points as the Knights steadily pulled away. Obinna Nwobodo added 11 points as DC (12-5, 9-2) shook off a 12-for-24 game at the line.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Germantown Academy 64, Episcopal Academy 58 >> Andrew Alikakos scored 21 points and Alex Capitano added 18, but an 18-10 disadvantage in the third quarter sealed the host Churchmen’s fate. Colin Chambers scored 13 points for EA (9-12, 3-3), which went just 5-for-12 at the free throw line.

Springside CHA 53, Haverford School 51 >> Bernie Rogers scored 14 points and Matt McKenna added 13, but the Fords (6-12, 1-5) were outscored 25-15 in the final quarter in losing for the 10th time in 11 games.

In nonleague action:

Phoenixville 69, Chester Charter Scholars Academy 58 >> Sean DeShields tallied a season-high 18 points to go with nine rebounds, but the Sabers (12-5) couldn’t overcome a 21-8 deficit after one quarter. Bruce Rogers added nine points for CCSA.
