Reporter Girls Basketball Roundup: North Penn edges Gloucester Catholic; St. Basil, Upper Moreland earn wins
North Penn 51, Gloucester Catholic (N.J.) 50 >> Val McGriff led North Penn with 11 points as the Knights did enough to fend off visiting Gloucester Catholic’s fourth-quarter charge and win Saturday’s nonleague contest.
Carley Adams and Alaina Mullaly both finished with 10 points for North Penn (10-4, 4-3 SOL Continental), who won its second straight. McGriff scored seven of her points in the first quarter.
The Knights built a 43-27 lead after three quarters before Gloucester Catholic outscored the NP 23-8 in the fourth.
Mycala Carney scored a game-high 18 points for the Rams while Lynzie Eggers added 16 points.
St. Basil 60, Nazareth Academy 32 >> Denae Carter collected 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists as St. Basil stayed undefeated in AACA play.
Sam White had 12 points and three assists for the Panthers (14-2, 7-0 league), who won their seventh straight. Riley Scannell chipped in eight points while Shannon Remolde had seven points and three assists.
Upper Moreland 39, West Chester Henderson 28 >> Bean Hughes collected a game-high 21 points as Upper Moreland claimed a home nonleague victory.
EmmyFaith Wood added 11 points for the Golden Bears (8-7, 4-4 SOL American). Hughes scored nine points in the first quarter which finished with Upper Moreland leading 11-4. The Bears went into halftime up 21-13.
