Reporter Boys Basketball Roundup: Larkins lifts North Penn past Bensalem

North Penn 44, Bensalem 42 >> Joe Larkins scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter — going a perfect 6-for-6 from the line in the quarter — as North Penn edged Bensalem in Saturday’s SOL nonconfernce matchup to snap the Owls’ nine-game win streak.

Larkins, Rob Carangi and Matt Swanson combined to score 41 of the Knights’ 44 points. Swanson finished with 15 points while Carangi collected 12 points. Swanson and Carangi both had 10 points in the first half as North Penn (5-10, 2-5 SOL Continental) ended a two-game losing streak.

Bensalem took a 33-29 lead into the fourth after outscoring the Knights 14-6 in the third. But North Penn bested the Owls 15-9 in the final period — a dozen points from Larkins with the other three provided by Swanson.

James Ashford had 14 points to lead Bensalem (13-2, 7-0 SOL National) while Travis Robinson added nine points.

Upper Dublin 56, Council Rock North 46 >> The duo of Drew Stover and Amare Johnson recorded 23 of Upper Dublin’s 30 second-half points as the Cardinals held off visiting Council Rock North for their third win in a row.

Stover scored 14 of his game-high 16 points after halftime while Johnson posted nine of his 15 points in the fourth quarter. 

Upper Dublin (8-7, 3-5 SOL American) led 26-22 at halftime before outscoring CR North 14-4 in the third to go up 40-26.

Hunter Wan scored all 14 of his points in the fourth quarter while Bernie Parent paced the Indians (3-12, 1-6) with 15 points – 11 of those in the first half. Mikey Sylvester added 11 points.
