Shipley hires new golf coach Monica Pedano

Bryn Mawr >> Monica Pedano, who has earned more than 100 wins as a golf coach at Merion Mercy Academy and Devon Prep, has been hired as the new varsity golf head coach at The Shipley School. Last fall, Pedano took her Devon Prep team deep into the postseason and onto to the PIAA State Championships.
Pedano is a graduate of Merion Mercy Academy and Villanova University. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Villanova while also achieving All-American honors in field hockey. She started her career in the financial industry over 25 years ago with Morgan Stanley. She is currently a partner at The Philadelphia Group, an independent wealth management consulting firm located in King of Prussia.
She is a resident of Wayne where she resides with her husband Brian Rogers and two sons, Michael and Joseph III.
“I am very excited to continue my coaching career at Shipley – especially with my husband at my side as my assistant coach,” said Pedano. “Together we hope to build on the foundation of Shipley’s golf program. I have built my coaching career on more than just concentrating on the wins and losses. Although my very competitive nature can been seen in my everyday coaching, my No. 1 priority is to develop my players into well-rounded human beings. This style of coaching lends itself very well to the philosophy that Shipley abides by, which is of course what attracted me to the position.”
