Haverford High girls capture Pa. Ultimate championship

The Haverford Ultimate Disc Alliance (HUDA), the Haverford High School girls Ultimate team, captured the 2019 Pennsylvania High School Girls State Championships May 26 in Irwin.
The tourney included 13 teams, and HUDA won seven games during the two-day event by a combined score of 91-15. In the championship final, Haverford defeated Lower Merion, 13-7. Haverford had compiled a 4-0 record in pool play (Pool A0, while Lower Merion was 3-0 in Pool C.
Haverford started the tourney with pool play on the first day, defeating Radnor, Franklin Regional, North Allengheny and Oakland Catholic by identical 13-1 scores.
In the quarterfinals, Haverford defeated Masterman 13-2; then defeated Fox Chapel in the semifinals 13-2. Lower Merion advanced to the finals with a 13-8 quarterfinal win against Radnor and an 8-5 victory against Strath Haven.
The Haverford team included Daisy Adams, Annalie Ayers, Mia Blatcher, Katie Bongiovanni, Caroline Burns, Eliana Cope, Catherine Corbett, Amelia Dorn, Natalie Dumitrescu, Kaitlyn Eng, Emma Hamilton, Amelia Legato, Meghan McGrory, Angelina Ngo, Christina O’Halloran, Anna O’Reilly, Ainsley Spitz, Nikki Walheim and Abby Wiedeman.
