Halford, Garnet Valley advance to quarterfinals

Pitcher Becca Halford blanked No. 9 Methacton on seven hits and knocked in a run to helped eighth-seeded Garnet Valley to a 5-0 victory in the second round of the District 1 Class 6A tournament.

The Jaguars traveled to undefeated top seed Spring-Ford Friday afternoon.

Annie Bechtold singled, walked and knocked in two runs. Morgan Mesaros and Kayleigh Saboja each had a hit and an RBI. Kelly McLaughlin and Audrey Shenk both finished 2-for-3.

In the District 1 Class 5A quarterfinals

Bishop Shanahan 10, Springfield 0 >> Devon Miller struck out 11 to lead the second-seeded Eagles over the No. 7 Cougars.
