Mercury Baseball Roundup: Spring-Ford blanks Upper Merion

Spring-Ford 6, Upper Merion 0 >> Cooper Webb and Hunter Curley combined on a three-hit shutout for the Rams in a PAC crossover contest Thursday.

Webb threw six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out seven while Curley struck out the side in the seventh inning.

Jason Smiley’s three-run double turned the game in the third inning and S-F added on runs in the fourth and fifth. Ben Wilchacky was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Perkiomen Valley 8, Upper Perkiomen 4 >> The Vikings rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat the Indians in a PAC crossover. Tyler Haywood (3-for-4) and Hayden Bailly (2-for-3) had multi-hit games for PV, which used a three-run fourth inning to force a 4-4 tie before scoring in their final three at-bats. Tony DeLawrence and AJ Hansen each had two RBI.

Brian Willey threw six scoreless innings in relief for PV. Have gave up just one hit, struck out four and walked two.

David Kilroy had a double and two RBI for UP.

Norristown 10, Pope John Paul II 0 >> Dom Proietto surrendered only one hit over five innings and the Eagle bats struck early in a PAC crossover win.

Perkiomen School 16, Barrack Hebrew 6 >> The Panthers opened the Tri-County League playoffs in a big way, rolling over Barrack Hebrew in their semifinal-round game.

David Smith singles in two runs in the second inning for Perkiomen (12-4), whose 15-hit attack was its most productive of the season. Jayden Kemp (triple) and Manny Ariza (double) had RBI hits in the fifth for the Panthers, who take on Collegium Charter at home 4 p.m. Monday, May 6, for the TCL championship.
