Ridley’s King gets in on the offense as Green Raiders notch first win
Brendan King wasn’t content with just taking care of the defensive end Saturday. The Ridley goalie got involved on offense, too, and the result was the Green Raiders’ first win of the season.
King stopped 14 shots and added a goal as Ridley downed West Chester Rustin, 13-8.
Jack Bakey scored four goals, Matt Haines added a hat trick and Sean Hinchey pumped home two goals for Ridley (1-8).
In other nonleague action:
Marple Newtown 10, Archbishop Carroll 8 >> CJ Lane scored four goals, and Charlie Box handed out three assists to go with a 10-for-15 day at the X. Colin Ferry (two assists), Luke Jelus (assist) and Zach Baroni netted twice each for Marple (4-6).
Fynn McNulty registered a hat trick, and Zane Walsh scored twice for the Patriots.
Penncrest 15, Upper Merion 8 >> TJ Sims, Jason Poole and Robby McDonnell each registered hat tricks, and Ryan Matsinger paired a goal with a 22-for-24 day on faceoffs to lead the Lions. Ian McDougall scored twice for Penncrest (5-4).
Kennett 9, Interboro 2 >> CJ Jones and Nick Mormando scored, and Connor Evans made 11 saves, but it wasn’t enough for Interboro.
At the Play for the A Day:
Strath Haven 9, Spring-Ford 8 >> Liam Carney scored with 2:37 left to break an 8-8 tie and send the Panthers to the win in their tournament to raise awareness and support for Alzheimer’s research.
Carney finished with two goals and an assist. Nicky Palermo and Ethan Belville each had three goals and one helper, and Vincey Palermo made 10 saves in net for Haven (6-3).
Springfield 12, Pennridge 2 >> Jack Clark tallied four goals and two assists, and Liam Difonzo added a hat trick for the Cougars, who dominated the faceoffs to the tune of 15-for-18 via Zack Broomall and Jake Methlie. Brett Gougler and Jack Spence provided two goals each for Springfield (8-1).
