Balance rules as 11 schools represented on All-Central girls soccer first team

A year of balance in the Central League standings begets a year of balance in selecting its All-Central team. Of the league’s 12 teams, 11 are represented on the All-Central first team.

The only school with multiple honorees is Penncrest, which earned the league’s only states win. Goalie Bryn McLaughlin and defender-turned-forward Sarah Hughes earned spots on the first team. Conestoga, the other states qualifier as the District 1 Class 4A champion, landed Caitlin Donovan on the first team to go with a pair of second-team nods.

The wealth was spread around evenly on the first team. Annalena O’Reilly of Haverford and Rylie Butler of Ridley represented teams making appearances in the District 1 Class 4A postseason. Strath Haven’s Maggie Forbes helped the Panthers to the District 1 Class 3A tournament.

Also on the first team are Harriton’s Reilly Short, Garnet Valley’s Alyssa Saito, Springfield’s Julie Schickling, Lower Merion’s Aviva Kosto, Marple Newtown’s Rebecca Ritchie and Radnor’s Melissa Massimino.

Below is the full list of All-Central honorres.
