Mercury Field Hockey Roundup: Phoenixville tops Norristown on Senior Night
The Phoenixville field hockey team celebrated its Senior Night in grand style Monday, rolling up a 10-0 win over Norristown in a Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover matchup.
Marissa Saldes scored her first varsity goal as part of a hat trick while Gabby Herschell scored another three goals to go along with three assists. Sydney Alling scored twice and added a pair of helpers while Cora Brown added her first career varsity goal and Ameerah Green rounded out the scoring. Abby Delgrosso and Sophia Greenwalt combined for the shutout in the cage.
Spring-Ford 6, Pope John Paul II 1 >> Alexa Collins and Ashley Sessa scored two goals apiece in the Rams’ PAC divisional crossover win against the Golden Panthers.
Mac Maloney added a goal and an assist in the win while Katelyn Crist added a solo tally to round out the scoring.
Pottsgrove 4, Boyertown 1 >> Lydia Mace scored less than five minutes into the game and the Falcons used a three-goal second half to claim a PAC divisional crossover win against the Bears.
Riley Simon scored twice in the win while Katie Bean added a score and Amanda Stone had six saves in the cage. Boyertown’s Lauren Eves got on the board while Laura Wigand made four saves.
Methacton 10, Upper Merion 0 >> Katy Benton scored three times while Grace Hirst and Frankie Lucchesi added three points apiece in the Warriors’ PAC divisional crossover win against the Vikings.
Hirst scored twice and added an assist while Lucchesi had a goal and two helpers as Methacton jumped out to a 5-0 lead by the half. Liz Chipman and Rachel Alderfer both had a goal and an assist while Reilly Smith and Mandy Bodek rounded out the scorers, each finishing with a goal.
Perkiomen Valley 11, Pottstown 0 >> The Vikings’ attack featured 10 different goal scorers with eight players earning assists in a PAC divisional crossover win against the Trojans.
Emma Lafferty had two goals while Katie Wuerstle finished with a goal and an assist as Perk Valley jumped out to a 7-0 lead by the half.
Central Bucks East 2, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> The Tribe dropped a non-conference matchup against the Patriots.
