Baldwin School makes waves at 3rd Manny Flick
Baldwin School had some strong finishes at the 3rd Manny Flick April 2.
Top Baldwin performances of the day came from the lightweight double (Zara Wenzinger bow, Olivia Lanchoney stroke), who dominated their heat with a time of 5:19 to finish 15 seconds ahead of second place competitor and sculling powerhouse Conestoga.
Baldwin also saw strong results from Jasmine Greytok (bow) and Carolina Kiser (stroke) in the varsity double, who posted a time of 5:23.36 to secure a second place in their event, in a photo finish that left them just 0.29 seconds shy of Germantown Friends School’s first-place time.
The junior varsity quad of (Julia Love bow, Tara McMahon 2, Jane Bai 3, and Hailey Barnett stroke) also made a strong showing, winning their flight with a time of 5:04 and placing third out of the nine boats in the event.
JV doubles (Helen Ji bow, Jess Shen stroke; Juliet Paiva bow, Gabrielle Alston stroke) and the second varsity double (Maya Bindra bow, Sanjana Dixit stroke) faced challenging competition at this week’s races. Rowing together for the first time this season, Paiva and Alston finished with a 6:05, while Bindra and Dixit, also racing a previously untested lineup in their varsity double, finished with a 6:36.2.
