Radnor swimmers, divers earn two big wins on Senior Night

Radnor’s swim and dive teams completed their regular season with a  sweep of Garnet Valley Feb. 3 on Senior Night, the boys winning 100-55, and the girls 99-87.

The girls meet came down to the last relay for the win, which moved them in to second place in the Central League rankings, and the boys maintaining third place.

 

Radnor’s divers performed well, with boys finishing 1-2-3 (Brian Chettle, Hager Neeb and Kieran Murdocca; and the girls finished 2-3-4 (Annika DeRoos, Natasha Lowy and Lena Moscol). These six divers will advance to Central League Diving Champs Feb. 14-15.

Individual winners in the girls’ swim meet included Julia Cullen (200 IM and 100 butterfly), Anna Duffy (50 free), Sasha Smolyansky (100 back) and Grace Wakiyama (100 breast).  Radnor also won the 200 medley relay (Sasha Smolyansky, Grace Wakiyama, Sarah Goncher and Emily Moyher) as well as the meet-clinching 400 free relay (Anna Duffy, Samantha Lee, Sasha Smolyansky and Julia Cullen).

In the boys’ meet, individual winners included Greg Giannella (50 free and 100 free); James El-Diery (200 IM); Ethan Cai (100 butterfly); Wil Cosgrove (500 free), and Patrick Cullen in 200 free.  The boys’ medley relay also finished first (Nick Mlodzienski, James El-Deiry, Ethan Cai and Greg Giannella) as did their 200 free relay (Ryan Tague, Mike Horstmann, Derek Chettle and Greg Giannella).

This was also Senior Night, where 19 swimmers and divers were recognized.

The senior girls included Tiffany Chou, Emma Dietz, Anna Duffy (captain), Julia Lunger (captain), Alice Marshall, Emily Moyher, Sang-Hee Park, Sasha Smolyansky (captain), Mae Yeakel, Annika DeRoos, Lena Moscol, Sam Componovo and Natasha Lowy.

The senior boys included  Ryan Tague, Steve Giannella, Jake Chanenson, Derek Chettle, Mike Horstmann and Hager Neeb.
