Mayer’s lone overtime point enough for Ridley

All it took was one point for Ridley to win its first game of the season.

Hailee Mayer made the go-ahead free throw in overtime, accounting for the session’s only point, as the Green Raiders nipped Haverford, 42-41.

Paige Gabriele forced a fifth period when she hit one of two foul shots in the waning seconds of regulation. Izzy Hanilin recorded 12 points and nine rebounds, Gina D’Ambrosio scored a career-high 10 points off the bench and Mayer added nine points for Ridley (1-4, 1-2 Central League).

Erin Doherty led the way for the Fords (2-4, 1-2) with 15 points and Brianna Blair tossed in 14.

In other Central League action:

Radnor 65, Marple Newtown 46 >> Allison Lanzone posted a double-double for the Raiders with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Audrey Rosenblum poured in a career-high 14 points. Radnor outscored Marple, 54-31, after the first quarter.

Nicole Ayoub paced the Tigers (2-2, 1-2) with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Devon Adams also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.

Garnet Valley 65, Upper Darby 26 >> Emily McAteer scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists for the Jaguars (4-0, 3-0). Brianne Borcky netted 15 points and Nicole Barnes had five points to go with five steals. Maddy Sorokanych added seven points, five rebounds and two assists, while Allison Tomasetti had six boards and three assists.

Springfield 56, Strath Haven 14 >> Belle Mastropietro scored 14 points and made three steals as the Cougars (4-1, 2-1) cruised to their second straight win. Jordan D’Ambrosio chipped in with 10 points and four assists.

Penncrest 49, Harriton 41 >> Kat Mullaney hit all six of her free throws in the final four minutes of the game to secure the victory for the undefeated Lions (5-0, 3-0). Megan Arndt scored a team-high 18 points and Grace Harding contributed 13.

In the Bicentennial League:

Christian Academy 52, MaST Charter 7 >> Lindsay Haseltine notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 steals for the Crusaders, who scored 26 unanswered points in the first quarter and led at halftime, 38-3.

Grace Gormley (11 points) and Danay Cooks-Green (10) had 10 points apiece for TCA (5-0).

In the Inter-Ac League:

Notre Dame 48, Baldwin 18 >> Mandy McGurk and Casey Walsh paced a balanced attack with 10 points each. McGurk also had four rebounds, while Riley Shaak added eight points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

In nonleague action:

Sacred Heart 63, Academy Park 41 >> Eileen Piombino poured in a career-high 28 points and also had five assists and three steals to lead the Lions (5-1) to their second win in as many days. Krya Quigley added a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots. Taylor Smith paced the Knights with 11 points.

Interboro 39, Avon Grove 35 >> Amber Seaman’s block with less than a minute to go helped preserve the win for the Bucs (2-2), who were led on the scoreboard by Gina McNamee’s 21 points.

Souderton 49, Penn Wood 28 >> Khaliah Gordon registered eight points, five steals and three assists for the Patriots (2-3), who lost their third straight. Brianna Moore also contributed five assists and three swipes.

Villa Maria 61, Chester 41 >> Clayshonia Cogman had a big night with 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals, but the Clippers suffered their fourth loss of the season. Shod’Deah Kelly added 15 points for Chester.

In the Ches-Mont League:

W.C. Rustin 63, Sun Valley 28 >> Kate Lannon scored a team-high 12 points for the Vanguards (1-3, 0-2), who were held to 11 points in the second half.
