Mercury Area Baseball Roundup: Boyertown tops PJP in eight; Osisek-Byrne dominant for Phoenixville

Ryan Weller knocked in Seth Endy on a single to left field to give Boyertown’s baseball team a 7-6, eight-inning PAC-10 win over Pope John Paul II.

Endy finished 2-for-2 out of the lead-off spot, scoring two runs and knocking in another on the day. Pat Hohfeld went six innigns in the start, holding the Golden Panthers to two hits and a run. Andrew Bauer got the win, going the final 1-1/3 innings, where he allowed just one hit.

PJP plated five runners in the bottom of the seventh inning to push extras. Billy Hitman finished 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. Amedeo Citro knocked a double and scored two runs in the loss.

Phoenixville 6, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> Matt Osisek-Byrne was dominant from the mound in the Phantoms’ PAC-10 shutout over the Tribe.

Osisek-Byrne went all seven innings, scattering three hits while fanning 11 batters. Batting out of the leadoff spot, Matt Palubinsky finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Luke LeBeau finished with two hits including a double and an RBI. Phoenixville ran wild on the bases, stealing nine bags with Nasir Greene accounting for five stolen bases.

Spring-Ford 6, Pottstown 4 >> Bolstered by a five-run second inning, the Rams downed the Trojans in PAC-10 play.

Cam Michaud took the win for Spring-Ford scattering seven hits and four runs (one earned) across 4-1/3 innings and also fanned three batters. Sean McHugh finished 3-for-3 including a triple, two RBI and a run scored. Owen Gulati finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Ron Fausnaught finished 3-for-3 for Pottstown with four stolen bags, a run scored and an RBI.

Owen J. Roberts 11, Pottsgrove 0 >> CJ Weaver and Griffin Hensley (three RBI) finished with three hits apiece as the Wildcats used a seven-run second inning to propel them to a Mercy Rule victory. Dawson Stuart got the win on the bump after throwing three innings, allowing zero hits while striking out six and walking five.

Adam Girafalco got the lone hit for the Falcons.

Princeton Day School 9, Hill School 1 >> The Blues suffered their third consecutive loss to visiting Princeton Day School in non-conference action.
Danny Monzo went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles while Luke Allain and Max Put also finished with two hits for the Blues.
