Excellent doubles effort not enough for Strath Haven

Ben Troutman and Ian Terry, and Harrison Hotham and Cole Wirth pulled out three-set victories at second and third doubles, respectively, but it wasn’t enough as Strath Haven dropped a tough, 4-3 decision to Conestoga in the Central League.

Troutman and Terry topped Conesotga’s Kai Czubryt-Oriny and Stephen Le, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Hotham and Wirth downed Sebastian Urranga and Austin Han 7-6 (9-7), 2-6, 10-8. Jeff Himmelstein was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at third singles for the Panthers.

Radnor 6, Harriton 1 >> Will Frigerio, Josh Taylor and Brad Burton lost a total of eight games in the singles competition to pace the Raiders.

Garnet Valley 7, Ridley 0 >> Eric Burns and Jimmy Gillespie did not lose a game at first and second singles, respectively, and the Jaguars won all seven matches in straight sets.

Haverford 5, Penncrest 2 >> Isaac Celwin and Stevie DiSipio, Jack McGovern and Alex Arcidiacono and Varun Rajan and Eric Liu swept the first three doubles matches in straight sets to pace the Fords (2-4, 1-3) to their first league win.

Upper Darby 5, Springfield 2 >> Tony Nguyen and Vinlong Ngom 6-3, 6-3 triumph at first doubles set the tone for a sweep of the pairs competition. Springfield’s Ty Stroyek upset Brandon Caban at first singles, 6-3, 7-5.

In the Del Val League:

Chichester 5, Glen Mills 0 >> Adrian Reimers, John Reimers and John Coleman won their respective singles matches 6-1, 6-3; 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-3.

In nonleague action:

Haverford School 6, Haddonfield 1 >> John Walsh, Will McDevitt and Connor Lees swept the singles in straight sets to keep the Fords undefeated.

Bonner & Prendergast 4, Sun Valley 1 >> Jake Mengel and John Staiber won at first and third singles, respectively to pace the Friars. Sun Valley’s Yousef Jouichate picked up his first victory of the season with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-0 triumph at second singles.
