PAC Roundup: Spring-Ford closes regular season with win over Boyertown

It missed qualifying for the Pioneer Athletic Conference’s Final Four playoffs this year.

But that didn’t stop the Spring-Ford girls basketball team from flexing its muscle against a team that did … two days before the league’s tournament gets underway.

With Molly Hynes and Sydney Wagner each scoring 14 points, the Rams held off Boyertown Thursday, 44-39.

The loss didn’t change the alignment for the tourney, however, as Boyertown (11-2) had already secured the Liberty Division’s second seed. But it offered Spring-Ford (10-3) a measure of satisfaction as both teams closed out their PAC-10 regular season in advance of Saturday’s District 1-AAAA tournament kickoff.

Hynes and Wagner were part of a three-way tie for game scoring honors, Abby Kapp scoring 14 to lead Boyertown. But Spring-Ford kept the points edge from a 10-6 first quarter, leading 20-18 at the half and 34-27 going into the fourth.

Kapp was one of the game’s rebounding stars with eight, helping the Bears to a 34-27 lead off the glass. Wagner cleared a matching number of boards, all at the defensive end.
