Upper Darby warms up for District Duals with win

In a tuneup for Thursday’s District One Duals event, Upper Darby cruised to a 59-20 Central League decision over Strath Haven Wednesday.

Powering the Royals were Coltrane Mosley-Jones (182 pounds), Anthony Logiurato (106), Jake Mejias (113), Thomas Reif (120), Colin Cronin (108), Sam DePhillipo (132) and Max Livingston (152), all of whom registered wins by pinfall.

Also, Pete Augustin dominated in the heavyweight bout, notching a major decision.

For Strath Haven, Noah France pinned his opponent to win the 126-pound match.

In other Central League action:

Garnet Valley 44, Marple Newtown 24 >> The Jaguars pulled away midway through the meet by winning six consecutive bouts, starting with Matt Marino’s fall over Zak Elfernani at 126. Nick Puliti (132), Dave Wood (138) and Matt Mortimer (145) followed with pins of their own. Drew Maiers and Paul Gartman ended the run with back-to-back major decisions.

The Tigers ended the major on a high note as Stephen Bradley (170), Eric Hulsey (182) and Niko Akranis (195) notched decisions.

In the Del Val League:

Academy Park 51, Glen Mills 30 >> AP’s Martin Cycle took care of business in the heavyweight match with a fall in 38 seconds. Max Fitzgerald won by fall in the 170-pound bout for the Knights.

After trailing 33-0, the Battlin’ Bulls (4-15) finished with a fight. Among their top performers were Andrew Dvorak (145), Hunter Soboloski (138) and Jeremiah Jefferson (138), all of whom won by pin.

In nonleague action:

Chichester 68, Conwell-Egan 12 >> Only five weights were contested in this one as the Eagles took advantage of several Conwell-Egan forfeits. D.J. McMaster registered a winning fall in the 132-pound bout, while Chichester received a pair of close decisions by Shane Gromek (119) as well as Jovani Perez (170).
