Upper Darby strikes gold at Delco Invitational
There was little choice Monday but to fall in line behind Upper Darby at the Delco Invitational.
The Royals collected five gold medals on the track at Glen Mills, led by Mason Weh’s double gold in the 55-meter dash and 55-meter hurdles.
Teammate Gianni Lawrence won the 200 and 400 dashes while Amir Goodwin and Syed Shah keyed a 1-2 finish in the 800 for Upper Darby.
Penn Wood led the way in the relays, winning the 4 x 800 and sprint medley. The Patriots’ Dennis Manyeah claimed the high jump in a personal-best leap of 6 feet, 4 inches, while teammate Sekou Kanneh pulled off the unique feat of medaling in the 400 (sixth) and 55 hurdles (second).
Delco Christian’s Michael Logie won the mile, while Cardinal O’Hara’s Eddie Issertell was a decisive winner in the 3,000. Issertell’s teammate Dustin Sacchetti won the pole vault.
Mike Arndt of Penncrest finished first the shot put. The hosts claimed a victory in the 4 x 400, while Dvale Mudd complemented his silver in the long jump (to Chester’s Jamir Green) with gold in the triple jump.
