All chalk on first day of Central League doubles

 

The top seeds all made it through to Saturday’s semifinals in the Central League doubles tournament.

After receiving a bye in the first round, top-seeded Grace Hederick and Jessica Lin of Radnor defeated Ridley’s Britt Brown and Maddie Carlson, 6-0, 6-0. Hederick and Lin then had to beat Radnor teammates Norah Xiong and Quinn Flannery, 6-3, 6-4, to get to the semis.

Second-seeded Maddie Wood and Ashley Griffith of Conestoga, third seeded Sofia Kandoussi and Lauren Binnion from Harriton and fourth seeded Amy Zhang and Julia Herman from Conestoga also won twice in straight sets to stay alive.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Notre Dame 4, Germantown Academy 3 >> Natalie Hughes and Adrianna Bull bounced back after dropping the first set at second doubles to secure the point the Irish (9-2, 4-2 Inter-Ac) needed to close the season on a winning note.

Episcopal Academy 5, Agnes Irwin 2 >> the Churchwomen swept the doubles to get past the Owls. Katie Kane and Jessica Bai pulled out a touch 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth doubles to complete the sweep.
All-Delco Camille Smukler and Kayla Neary were winners at first and third singles for Agnes Irwin.
